LEXICOMP ONLINE /UNH DATA BASE Medications used for medical history case study:
1) Synthroid: Levothyroxine (Dental Lexi-Drugs) 100 MCG Pharmacologic Category: Thyroid product USE- Oral: Hypothyrodism: Replacement or supplemental therapy in congenital or acquired hypothyroidism of any etiology, except transient hypothyroidism during recovery phase of subacute thyroiditis. Primary hypothyroidism may result from functional deficiency, primary atrophy, partial or total congenital absence of the thyroid gland, or from the effects of surgery, radiation, or drugs, with or without the presence of goiter. Pituitary thyrotropin- stimulating hormone suppression: prevention or treatment of carious types of euthyroid goiters, including thyroid nodules, subacute or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis (Hashimono Thyroiditis), multinodular goiter and as an adjunct to surgery and radioiodine therapy in the management of thyrotrophin- dependent well-differentiated thyroid cancer.
Local Anesthetic/ Vasoconstrictor Precautions: no precautions with vasoconstrictor are necessary if patient is well controlled with Levothroxine. Effects on Dental treatment: no significant effects or complaints reported Significant adverse effects: Cardiovascular: angina Pectoris, Cardiac arrest, cardiac arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, flushing, hypertension, increased pulse, myocardial infarction, palpitations, tachycardia
