Description

Developing Professional Skills in Sport and Exercise Science Introducing Pebblepad Pebble pad is an online personal development software system that allows you to house a multimedia evidenced portfolio to assist you in maintaining a record of your professional and academic progress. Essentially, it's like a professional & academic Facebook which you can share with your tutors or peers in order to demonstrate your developing competencies. It allows you to upload all forms of electronic material as ASSETS and then use these to develop a portfolio to show your professional development. Today's tasks are to initially set up and orientate yourself around the software and begin to populate your personal site with information about you. Design and orientation tasks 1) Got to www.pebblepad.co.uk/hallam 2) Check the 'I am a Sheffield Hallam Student' box and log in 3) Click on 'Design New' and select 'Webfolio' This will allow you to create a new web folio to house your work for this module in particular. 4) In Properties; Entitle the Webfolio 'Developing Professional Skills' then close the edit box you are currently in. (the title will save automatically) 5) Save and close the Webfolio 6) Click on 'Design New' and select 'Blog' 7) In Properties; entitle the Blog 'Blog Spot' then close the edit box you are currently in. (the title will save automatically) 8) Got to the top menu and find the 'ASSET STORE' icon and open this window 9) Inside there should be two items; your newly designed Webfolio and your Blog Spot. These are both now ASSETS that you have created. Open the Webfolio. 10) Inside the Webfolio you can now click on the small pencil icon at the top right corner of the Webfolio Window to allow you to edit this 'Asset'. 11) Click on 'new page', which is the blank page icon on the left, then entitle this 'Profile' 12) You will be able to name this profile 'Biography' also. 13) Here I wish you to write a biography of yourself.

First, upload a picture of yourself (something tasteful!). The page formatting will allow you to choose a format that includes a picture upload option for this section alongside a box to insert text. Next to the picture give a short introduction to you. Then, create another text/picture box and provide some details about your home, family and school life Then, create another text/picture box and provide some details about your sporting and other interests Then create another text/picture box and provide some details about some of your most proud moments or achievements Finally, and most importantly, create another text/picture box and I'd like you to write about your professional ambitions for the future. 14) Now to add another new 'page' please select 'Blog' icon in the webfolio window. PP will open up your ASSET STORE and you will be able to select the Blog Spot asset you recently created. Confirm this and the BLOGSPOT will appear as a new page in your Webfolio. 15) Click the 'save' icon next to the 'edit' icon on the Webfolio window. The close the Webfolio window. 16) Go back to your ASSET STORE window. At the moment, the only one who can see your PP is you! It's totally private. However to communicate with the outside world, I want you to SHARE it with your Dev Pro Skills Tutor AND your APA advisor. 17) To do this, simply select the Webfolio you have created, then click on the 'SHARE' button at the bottom of the ASSET STORE window. Here you should be able to search for your tutors. 18) Select them and also check the 'comments' permissions box and the ongoing' permissions box. You can add a short message of simply just click 'share' This will allow your tutors the chance to give you feedback on anything you write in the Webfolio when you update it in the future....
