Description

To: FRONT Board of Directors From: Karen Coulson, HR Director Date: November 1, 2021 Subject: Health Management Programs Over the years, employers have looked for ways to reduce expenses to keep the doors open, while also looking at all the cost of the benefits they can provide to employees. One of the benefits people look at changing are the healthier choices in the workplace cafeteria. A study by Scott Leavitt showed that more than $157 billion in health care is being spent because of heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, etc. We need to be more aware about what we are putting in our body. Especially if we are just going to sit at a desk for a whole day, five to six times a week. While our goal will always be to improve the company and bring in more profit, we should also try to focus on adding a program that can help guide employees to improve their own health. By promoting wellness and helping employees be healthier, we’re also improving efficiency in the workplace. Food for Life is a wellness program that has helped employees live a nutritious life at work and at home without too many restrictions. They offer support to the employer’s food service providers, so they can include healthier options into the menu. They also provide guidance on healthful dining choices for when there are no employer food service providers, besides that they have weekly sessions that consist of education workers on everything from cooking demonstrations to nutrition guidance. If this wellness management program is implemented, we will see a great increase in productivity in the workplace that can help increase our profits in the future. Besides that, we will be helping our employees improve their life-style. Study by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has shown that those who follow what this program has to offer lose an average of 9.5 pounds, decreasing hemoglobin by an average of 0.7% points. Which is really good for those who struggle with diabetes or just any type of health problem. In short, this will benefit the company and its employees alike. Karen Coulson HR Director...
