Nursing interventions: Administer with food, in small doses at start of treatment Avoid administering with high protein means due to reduced therapeutic effect with high protein content in food Patient Teaching: Advise patients to avoid vitamin preparations and foods containing pyridoxine such as wheat gum, liver, legumes because they can reduce the therapeutic effects of levodopa Advice clients to eat protein in several small portions during the day (Burchum & Rosenthal, 2019; Holman et al., 2019).
