The concept map at the back shows the central concepts of evolution to promote better understanding and cleared illustration of basic concepts of evolution in our life. It is an organization of concepts about the mechanism, evidences that support it, it’s definition and ideas or theories that gave basis on it. Evolution is divided into two – macroevolution and microevolution. Macroevolution defined as the large-scale patterns, trends, and rates of change among families and other more inclusive groups of species. Microevolution happens on a small scale (within a single population). Despite their differences, evolution at both of these levels relies on the same, established mechanisms of evolutionary change: mutation, natural selection, genetic drift, and gene flow. Moreover, evolution is established by different ideas and theorists. These are Lamarck who developed the Theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics which states that “physical changes in organisms during their lifetime—such as greater development of an organ or a part through increased use—could be transmitted to their offspring.” ; Charles Darwin who developed the Theory of Evolution which states that “all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.”; James Hutton who developed the Theory of Uniformitarianism which believes that “Earth's geologic processes acted in the same manner and with essentially the same intensity in the past as they do in the present and that such uniformity is sufficient to account for all geologic change.”; Erasmus Darwin who developed Laws of Organic Life which suggests that “the final course of this contest among males seems to be, that the strongest and most active animal should propagate the species which should thus be improved.”; and Carolus Linnaeus who developed the Classification of System. Physical evidences make evolution more reliable. Such evidences are fossil records, biogeography, genetics, vestigial structures, morphological structures, and embryonic structures.
