Selected topics from this course: The students will be exposed to concepts and principles related to Electric Fields, Gauss’s Law, Electric Potential, Capacitance and Dielectrics, Current and Resistance, Direct Current Circuits, Magnetic Fields, Sources of Magnetic Field, Faraday’s Law, Inductance, Alternating Current Circuits, Electromagnetic waves. The course will consist of lectures only. This course uses the 3rd party WebAssign system for weekly for graded assignments, and for the online midterm exam. Webassign Class Key: The assignments are available on webassign.net. You need to use the Class Key of the course to be able to create you account there, which is: concordia.qc 6741 5831 Please follow the instructions to create your account and try to avoid mistakes. Assessment Assignments Final and Midterm

Percentage 20% 80% (flexible)

This course allows a flexible grading scheme for the Midterm and Final exams. If you take the Midterm and do not receive a satisfactory grade, your grade for the Final Exam will count for a higher percentage. Your instructor will automatically calculate the most advantageous weighting for your Midterm and Final at the end of the semester based on your scores for each exam. You must take the Midterm exam to be eligible for Flexible Grading. Flexible Grading Distribution Options: Option A: Midterm = 20%, Final = 60% Option B: Midterm = 0%, Final = 80% Description of Graded Assessments Assignments There are about (12) graded assignments for this course due approximately every week via WebAssign. Please check WebAssign website and keep track of the deadlines. Exams The midterm will take place on WebAssign. The final will take place in-person, the place, date, and time will be set by the examinations office at Concordia university (please check your MyConcorida Portal for that purpose). It is cumulative. It will have questions taken from all parts of the course, lectures, assignments, practice problems (available on Moodle), and readings from your textbook. No Make-up policy: There will be no makeup for a missed midterm test, or any other piece of work due to a serious illness or major emergency; the credit given to the missed work due to the illness will be added to the credit of the final exam. For example, if you miss the midterm, with a legitimate reason, then the final will be worth 80%. You must contact your TA and the instructor before the scheduled test or piece of work that you are missing or going to miss. Please, be prepared to provide detailed written documentation (e.g., a detailed medical note from your doctor, not his secretary) to verify the emergency and its seriousness. A medical note simply stating that a student was at a clinic, without detailed explanation about the seriousness of their illness, won’t grant them any special consideration. Also, athletes, who need to travel for sports competitions (that enter in conflict with any type of course work or evaluation), need to contact me ahead of time and provide a proof and documentation from their coach or sports league with a full contact information.

Grades In order to view your grades throughout the semester, click on the My Grades link in your eConcordia portal.

It is your responsibility to ensure your work has been received (to be verified as outlined in your assignment instructions) and to contact your TA via e-mail for clarification if you have any questions concerning your grades. Your final letter grade for the course will be posted in your MyConcordia Portal at the end of the term. Please allow at least two weeks for the grades to get into the system and be available to you on your Portal. Mark Breakdowns
