2.0 2.1 Planning VISION A vision is a conceptual image that requires thinking strategically about the future direction and trying to become a reality in a company’s future. Therefore, it is important for AirAsia to establish a vision statement while planning. According to AirAsia, its vision is “To become Asia's largest and recognized low-cost airline company that providing inclusive travel and financial services to delivers the best flying experience.” So, it will direct let more people to know AirAsia easily as the company grows bigger day by day. In short, it gives good brand identity to its consumers. It took a lot of media attention, such as advertising, sponsorship, and so on, to be the most known low-cost airline company. Moreover, AirAsia also aims to provide passenger with the best flying experience and notes in its vision statement. In this way, AirAsia will look at how consumers now are concerned with the services that the company can deliver. While the vision would not explain precisely how AirAsia would achieve the whole destination, the path for its business planning is set. For example, becoming a market leader is the new target for AirAsia to accomplish. As mention earlier, a fundamental to leading an organisation and helping to ensure the success of the company is the creation of a vision statement. MISSION Mission is an enduring statement of purpose that distinguishes one firm from another similar firm. The mission statement of AirAsia is “To provide passengers with complete premium amenities while providing the lowest flight cost.” Therefore, AirAsia has fulfilled the mission ‘now everyone can fly.’ Next, is “Use technologies to minimise cost, increase operation and explore new development prospects in order to ensure the best quality product.” Lastly, is “To get an empowered workforce and develop a strong relationship between workers and top management that treated as part of a big family.” Most of the target group would clearly and easy to understood the mission statement of AirAsia. For instance, the mission statement indicated “To provide passengers with complete premium amenities while providing the lowest flight cost”, AirAsia has been motivated by increasing the importance of the client and offering complete quality services as most of the competitors do. Besides, the mission has emerged to provide an efficient and empowered AirAsia workforce. This is possible to coordinate team bonding and apply good working policies to the AirAsia workforce while bonding good ties between workers and top management. In sum, the mission statement can help AirAsia to properly and flatly form its whole organisational structure. So, developed

vision and mission statement will help AirAsia to move forward in the right direction and assist management to evaluate it as a guide in future decision-making. STRATEGIC PLANNING Strategic planning is the practise of recording and leading an organisation by determining where you are as well as where you are going. It is long-term and is common to the whole enterprise. It also consists of large plans. Firstly, the strategic planning of AirAsia is safety first. AirAsia partnership with the world's most esteemed maintenance contractor and compliance with the service of major airlines. Besides, according to AirAsia, they comply with the highest requirements and protocols of International Aviation Safety to maintain their clear and straightforward operations and also ensure the safety of their customers. Secondly, AirAsia believe low fare, no frills can provide visitors with the option of tailored services without sacrificing on results and services to satisfy the customers. Next, streamline operation also is one of the strategic planning of AirAsia. This can make the process as simple as possible and easily accessible booking channels. Lastly, use the point to point network to keep the operation simple, efficiency and also decrease the cost. In short, strategic planning is important for developing an organisation because it will determine where your company what to go and fulfil the desire goals.

Organizing may be described by clarifying jobs, working relationships and efficiently distributing resources to accomplish established and specific goals as a framework that initiates the execution of plans. An organizational chart will convey the internal structure of a corporation by describing within an agency the functions, duties, and relationships between employees. The organizational chart of AirAsia shown in Figure 1. Based on the chart above, the highest authoritative level is CEO and the orders venture down to the next level from this top level, where they begin to pass down until they reach the level at which the request is to be carried out. Besides, a decision will be taken at the top after all the information has been processed and analysed and will relate back into the stages of the hierarchy before it passes the level where the decision will be applied. Not only that, this recognize that all the

operations and contact of the different sections of the company are mostly controlled by the top level of the hierarchy. TYPES OF DEPARTMENTALIZATION The types of departmentalization that used by AirAsia Bhd is functional departmentalization. This departmentalization includes COO, Company Secretary, Group Chief Commercial Officer and also Group Head of Cargo which are include in the company. Besides, it is based on the functions to group the activities and tasks. Functional departmentalization enables the top-level managers to control company and make a profit by organising workers on the basis of their experience and abilities. As the hierarchy is clear, instead of several people, employees know the one manager they are to report to. The employees within each functional department interact with each other exclusively, and then department heads communicate with each other. This simplifies contact and decreases employee confusion, so employees may be secure in what they are doing. Functions departmentalization is an efficient way that help AirAsia to run a business.
