Playconomics Playconomics is a computer-based interactive experience that plays like a videogame and teaches like your standard economics textbook. It combines gamification, personalised feedback and experiential learning in an innovative and accurate way, to make your Micro 1 learning more engaging and fun. Accessing Playconomics: 

register using the “SIGN UP” button in the top right corner of the page



input your details and click “Submit”

Important:  EMAIL: Here enter [email protected], where 1234567 is your UQ ID number without the last digit  STUDENT ID: Here enter your UQ ID number (12345678) without the initial "s"  Notes:  Don’t forget to complete your details and tick the “I agree to the [terms & conditions]” box  If you enrol in the course after the course census date you won't be able to register until the next list is updated. New lists are uploaded every few days and announcements are posted each time this is done.

You can now log into your account and from the “My Home” page you can  see your Course details (class, instructors) – by clicking on the “View details” button  

purchase the full version of Playconomics (textbook, videos, videogame) download Playconomics (after purchasing it) – by clicking on “Download game”   



make sure you download the right version for your computer (Windows or Mac) move the downloaded zip file onto your Desktop and unzip it (by double clicking on it) launch (double click on) the Application file (playconomics_win OR playconomics_mac) from the unzipped folder to play

access the textbook in Ebook or Pdf version – by clicking on the “Launch online course” and “Access textbook PDF” buttons

!!! If your computer struggles running the game, change the “quality settings” from the game main menu. !!!

Important: You’ll need an Internet connection to play. If your Mac computer doesn’t recognise the application:  In the Finder, locate the app you want to open. (Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.)  Press the Control key, then click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu. Click Open.  The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app.

Equity and Access: Students who are unable or unwilling to purchase a Playconomics license will be able to access the game using selected PCs in our on-campus computer lab. Please contact the lecturer-in-charge for further information.
