First Part ( Historical View) TEXT CLASSIFICATION -> It is an argumentative discourse, historic-literary. CONTEXTUALIZATION-> At a time when the woman rights where lower than the man ´s, they started to rise searching for the right to vote, and also, the acknowledgment of them in the society as citizens of all right. One of the most important instigators of the movement was the author of this text, Emmeline Pankhurst, who in 1889 founded "Women´s Franchise League", group with which she aimed to defend the right to vote of married women in the local elections, and later on, also helped to found in 1903 " Women´s Social and Political Union"( WSPU). The second group gained a los of importance over the years, being the militants of this one known as the suffragettes. In the year of 1913, specifically, one of reasons that would motivate the movement of Pankhurst and the suffragettes, would be the law commonly known as the "Cat and Mouse Act", which would consist in freeing the prisoners, in hunger strike until they gained health, and then proceed to arrest them again. The same Pankhurst was also arrested many times, suffering this law, going in and out of jail numerous occasions. The women, tired of waiting, threw themselves to the streets to fight for their rights, resulting in a nonstopping riots. The most famous would be the death of Emily Davison, who threw herself in front of the king´s horse, as a way to protest against the government’s failure to accept the women´s rights, dying from it. In this Prospect, the suffragettes found a way to get out og the unfair imprisonment, by going in hunger strikes, that did not constitute any criminal offense. This led to a series of proceedings by the authorities that forced the women to eat, leading, at the same time, to a fairly bad impression of the Forces of law. This forced the government to forge the law before mentioned. These discourse of Pankhurst, was done in a penitentiary leave, before being condemned to 3 years of jail for instigating a crime that burned the not inhabited house that was being constructed for David Lloyd-George( a liberal politician who would be the Britain´s Prime

Minister in the years of 1916- 1922), with a incendiary device. In this penitentiary leave, Pankhrst travelled to the United States of America to make a tour of discourses planned to fundraising for the cause. AUTHORSHIP-> These discourse was done by Emmeline Pankhurst. ADDRESSEE-> To the militants, supporting the fight for equality, making a public appeal to the "battle". Definitely, to everyone that was willing to listen. GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION-> Hartford, Connecticut TEMPORARY LOCATION-> 13 of November, 1913. Second Part ( Cultural View) MOTIVATION AND CAUSE-> The motivation would be to look for support for the fight of equality and try to raise awareness. At a time when the men have had the right to vote since so long, women have been left in the shadows, patients, but with the same importance. According to Pankhurst, the cause of the movement is no other than to look for recognition, acceptance, and above every other thing, equality. With this, it is planned to find the flame of the insubordination, the fighting spirit, the deserved recognition of the men folk who have been dodging their demands. Then, with a message much more powerful, the discourse finishes with a war cry “Freedom or death". PURPOSE-> It is no other than to support the fight , and make clear that this is no different than the others that have been fought. It is no different that the fight for human rights. The right to vote is undeniable, and it has to be granted and defended by all means. The author tries to explain from her point of view that the war that women are fighting is not different from any other one, just like any other, the goal is always freedom.

SIGNIFICANCE-> The text became one of the main samples of feminine force as time passed. During that time, sadly, followed by the First World War, the motivations and the fight for equality had to wait. However, Pankhurst would become one of the most important figures for feminism in later fights, and in 1928, the government finally Approved the

female suffrage in equality with the male´s. PROJECTION-> Known later on as one of the most influential women of the 20th century, these discourse became one of the most important samples of the fight for equality and the right to vote, inpiring women from all places to follow the example of this fighting figure. CONSEQUENCE-> Thanks to women like her, it would be possible to get the right to vote in 1918 for women above 30 years, and later on, weeks after the death of Pankhurst, the right to vote for women at the age of 21, just like the men. A fight that lasted a lifetime, and finally ended with honor. Third Part ( Personal View) CONCLUSION-> Throughout the investigation around this text, we could find details of Pankhurst very definitive. She always tries to make everyone part of the speech, and in all times she tries to put herself in everyone´s shoes, talking in plural "us", as a way to make them participate. The brilliant way in which she puts examples and also includes the men listeners makes the speech a unique historical piece, not only because of the fame of the movement, but because at that time a women was able to tell that much, relevant to the course of history later on, not just for women, but for all of us. The speech arrives at a certain point, after being accused and put out of jail many occasions for her "criminal" actions she tries to raise awareness of the fact that she is no criminal, trying to break the law, but a citizen trying to make justice with new law. In her autobiography “My own Story “we can appreciate more her indomitable personality of this woman, who shows in interviews that being a women those not define her as inferior. Later on, her tries to achieve that women could be recognized with the same value as men would give great strength, not only to the English women, but to every women, and even nowadays, we have to recognize the great value of what she fought for. We can also read allusions to historical battles, such as the battle in Harbour, where the men

threw the tea off the ship in order to fight against the British. Along the history, the women is always left in the shadows, despite the fact that they also suffer from them. It is true, men go to the battle, and women stay at home, but they also make sure that there is home to return. They have to maintain the economy, the factories, and also take care od the children. They are, for that, nothing more and nothing less than them. With the start of the First World War, showing that they had the same patriotism of men, Pankhurst and the other women started to work at factories to help the economy and maintain the country. Also, the government, not always alien to the pain an requests of them, started to free form jail the women, and they started to work. This was something decisive to the development of the events. The speech tells clearly that women are strong forces, and that they are not weak because of their sex. It is undeniable, that after this event, they only pay attention to the loud ones, ad the fighters. PERSONAL OPINION-> Having the opportunity of analyzing a historical text of such magnitude, it is inevitable to extrapolate it to the present and the feminist movement that resulted from brave women like her. W are not unfamiliar to the pain that they have suffered throw all the history, and the silent war that they have been fighting all the time trying to be considered as equals. The suffragettes brought out , as many other militants of the same cause, the great necessity for equality that lived in their hearts. Nowadays, a similar situation is unthinkable, and that is, indisputably, thanks to them. In a moment of political tension, the women, they rose and decided that they could not remain silent. And that is, as minimum, amazing, that even after centuries of frustrated silence, this brave warriors went to the streets with all that it meant. Never was the fighting spirit lost, despite all the time that it was hidden, and even, punished. As it is normal, nowadays we cannot even imagine a situation that requires so much effort, but even knowing it, the society is not equal even now. But, obviously, it is nothing compared to that period.

A historical figure such as Emmeline Pankhurst helps us to value our history, and the importance of remembering those who fought for it. Honoring the fight of these women, now we have to maintain their powerful legacy and guard its fulfillment.
