Description

APA Citation Guide Research Methods in Psychology The examples below show proper APA citation formatting for two types of sources you will encounter in the Research Methods in Psychology webtext: webtext content and embedded videos. In instances where you reference ideas or content from the webtext, use these examples as a guide. For all other types of source material, use the APA Formatting and Style Guide at Purdue’s Online Writing Lab (OWL), which follows the 7th edition of the APA Publication Manual.

IN-TEXT CITATIONS Use in-text (author, date) citations for writing discussion-board posts or a paper. Webtext content To cite content from any webtext page, use the author’s last name and the publication year. The example below is a properly formatted citation for all webtext pages. (Morling, 2020) Embedded videos If you are citing content from an embedded video within the webtext, use the video uploader’s name (if available), their username in brackets, and the upload year. If a name is not available, just use the uploader’s username (without brackets). To find this information, you may have to navigate to the video’s source page. The example below shows a properly formatted citation for the YouTube video found on page 1.14 of the webtext. (TED, 2014)

REFERENCE LIST For APA Style in-text citations, you will need to include (at the end of your paper) a list of the works you’ve referenced. APA Style Reference List Morling, B. (2020). Research methods in psychology. Soomo Learning. https://www.webtexts.com
