Quality Improvement Proposal Quality Improvement Proposal When it comes to the hospital setting, quality care should be a priority for the patients that are going to be treated for sickness, or any type of procedure they are going to be having done. It happens more times than none that a patient gets an infection while they are admitted in the hospital, on top of what they are in the hospital being treated for in the first place. All health facilities should be known as an environment of healing, as they are, however they are also

known for the tons of different germs and infections, this being said this is why those individuals that have a weakened immune system are sick. Some of the infections that are picked up while admitted in the hospital are methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), surgical site infections (SSI), vancomycin resistant staphylococcus aureus (VRSA), enterococci, vancomycin resistant enterococci (VRE), Acinetobacter, and klebsiella (Whitlock, 2019). Preventive measures to stop the spread of the infections is lacking tremendously in the work and aim to provide safety for all patient’s health. Hospital issues and outcomes Thunder hospital is faced with many issues with their quality of care and the amounts of medical errors they are facing every day. Thunder hospital is facing an exceptional increase in the amount of medical errors they are seeing daily whether those are giving the incorrect medication or even incorrect amount of medication, as well as patient falls and the 25% rise in the amount of in house infections popping up. All these issues affect the outcome of their patients and their patient’s safety. Patients safety and quality care should be number one regardless of the positive that takes place in the hospital. If I were as a specialist assistant to the chief executive officer (CEO), and my job was to fix the new quality improvement department I would start my evaluating the department first. I would make a chart of what needs to be fixed

and make sure it is in order of most important to least important first. In this instance I would use brainstorming and flow charts. The brain storming will help to get the plan into place, then I will follow up with flow charts that will put the plan into order and make sure it is checked off when finished (Johnson, Sollecito, 2020, p. 124). Quality improvement plan The brain storming will help to get a plan on how to maintain the amount of medical errors that take place in thunder hospital and make sure that the patient safety is in place for the patients so that they are safe. The flow charts will be able to show the staff how to visualize the representation on how the process will work to lessen the medical errors and the amount of in hospital infections that happen while patients are admitted (Johnson, Sollecito, 2020, p. 124). Making a medical error can be deadly. So, my plan will be to brainstorm everything with a team of associates that are going to work together on making this quality improvement plan better the hospital. Once the plan is set in stone, we will then make flow charts of patient safety, how to lessen medical errors, and lessen the amount of in hospital infections. If the staff all works together that will ensure that this plan will succeed and the patient safety and quality of care the patients receive will better the outcome of the hospital. Effects of the proposal Explaining my proposal to the CEO will be with the staff that is working together as a team and myself, along with the stakeholders. With every proposal there will be effects that will raise an issue. In this situation the key stakeholders will be individuals, corporations, or any other person that have invested interest into the hospital (Joseph. M., 2019). Our job will be to present the proposal and be able to answer any concerns they may have with the proposal. These stakeholders will pinpoint any and every little thing that may be a concern for their investment.

This is where we will make sure when doing our brainstorming, we not only have our first plan, but we will make sure we always have a back up plan for anything that may be of concern to the stakeholders. My team will propose the first plan and answer any questions or concerns the stakeholders may have then they will resort back to the back up plan to fill in any part they may disagree with. Having stakeholders is crucial when implementing a new proposal and a new improvement plan (Siegelaub, 2005). These stakeholders will even have opinions or suggestions to help make this plan work better. If all parties are openminded on each other’s opinions or suggestions, then the plan will be able to work out better. In conclusion, when trying to implement a new plan for your hospital make sure you have all your resources lined up and ready to go for when you propose your plan. Having your team with you to help you to implement this plan and explain it will help take all the stress off one person. If everyone proposes their own parts, then it will not be all on one person to answer and come up with a solution to the questions and concerns. Using the brainstorming and the flow charts tools are a great way to get starting on implementing the quality improvement plan because as a team everyone opinions are implemented and then using the flow charts to map it all out so that everyone can get a visualization on how it is going to pan out. By using these everyone can see the layout and how everything should be done so that no one has any issues with their parts of the project and if they do then it can be addressed before any changes take place. Working together as a team is the goal in improving anything.
