Knowing and having all the necessary documents ready will make the transfer procedure go smoothly and without any problems. This may help reduce the patient's anxiety when transferring to a new place.

Make sure that everything is all set and ready at the new facilty or place before transferring the patient. Inform the patient and family why the patient will be transferred and where. Make sure the patient is dressed appropriately and all possessions and valuables are accounted for.
