CMPM176 - Reading Guide - Sellers, Advanced Game Design P  . 267 - 276 1. How do the parts of the game inform the scope? A game system can be divided into different lower-level parts. 2. Seller’s describes name-value pairs. What are they? (In your own words) The name-value pairs  are a common name or a prototype of a series of data. It is used to replace those countless data while the whole programs running. 3. Describe how you determine which attributes should be included in the game. If an attribute is common and will be frequently used by multiple players, I think it should be included in the game. a. What is the one exception to one-use attributes? The exception to one-use attributes is that the game potentially has multiple unique attributes, given the player’s unique relationship to the rest of the game. 4. Describe attribute ranges, their requirements, and provide an example of one from a game. The attribute ranges is the range of valid value of an attribute. There are two requirements for the attribute ranges. The first one is that the designer should intuitively understand what this attribute represents and clearly communicate to players. The second requirement is that the attribute range should be rational, which means that it cannot affect the balance of the game system. Like the height of Jump-action in Super Mario. 5. In your own words, list the processing of defining parts, attributes, and subsystems that Sellers’ describes.

Firstly, confirm the parts and attributes in the game core loops, which will affect players playing experience and the important interaction between players and the designer. Secondly, confirm the role of each part in the game system, which is their functions and how the game program runs it. Finally, iterate the previous two steps and play-test the game system until it satisfies your design ideas.
