Coffee-ko 75 The overall purpose of this correlational study is to determine the relationship of the preliminary grade of the College students in De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, to the noninstitutional study areas where they were studying, specifically to the coffee shops.

INTRODUCTION Most of the students nowadays tend to study in some places like coffee shops because of the different types of ambiance. They prefer little noise than having pure silence. According to Nielsen, 2015), Coffee shops appear to be synonymous with office space and library. People find it as a peaceful, relaxed and ideal place to study because they have a drink and a snack to help with the study process. Being in public can lead to a psychological obligation to be on the focus on the task rather than to leave it behind. Most times people go to coffee shops or cafes to get their school/paper works done, so there can be a shared performance feeling as well. Students study alone because they benefit from working on their own, while others study with a group. Furthermore, coffee shops have internet which the students can use to gather information that will help them with their studies. These are all positive aspects of studying in the coffee shop. However, there are also negative aspects. Since it is a public place, there could be noises that can affect the students not to focus on their studies(Reviews, 2017). Also, noise can affect the system that can cause a decline in performance. There are a lot of coffee shops here in Cavite. The researchers noticed that most of the students go here to study alone or with a group. According to Syam H. et al., Some students favor studying at the coffee shop because they are more focused. That is why they tend to have a high grade. In this study, the researcher will test how the preliminary grades of college students and coffee shops are associated with one another and to know the effectiveness of studying in an unconventional area.

Moreover, this study aims to answer the following questions: 1. To assess the frequency of the study sessions of a college student at a coffee shop 2. To know the probability rate of college students getting a passing preliminary grade after studying at a coffee shop. 3. To associate the number of college students who believes in the effectiveness of studying at a coffee shop to their received preliminary grades. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY This study provides information to assist readers have a gist of knowledge on how the preliminary grades of college students and coffee shops are associated with one another. Therefore, the researchers give highlights on preliminary grades, whether the coffee shops correlates to it. The information that the researchers gather can offer data and insights to the readers particularly the college students and also the owners of coffee shops.

To the owners of coffee shops. This study may function as a helpful reference relating to how they can accommodate and adjust to the wants of college students. It may also serve as a basis on how they can improve to achieve additional sales for the betterment of their business. To the millennials. This makes them understand the importance of monitoring and managing their grades in relation to studying in coffee shops.
