3 IMPORTANT THINGS I REALIZED FROM THE READING: 1. Upon reading the Republic Act 1425 or the Rizal law, I realized that the studying Rizal’s life and works intends to awake the sense of nationalism and patriotism in each and every one of us because most of Rizal’s works specially Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo showcased how Rizal opened our eyes during the abusive and manipulative Spanish regime. That we, Filipinos, should steer or lead our own governing body.

2. I also realized that the Rizal law is applicable whenever what century we are in because the abusive and manipulative governance we experienced back then is never gone. I believe that we are still experiencing it. But difference is, it is our own countrymen who is now the corrupt, and abusive of their power. Instead of loving our country and fellow Filipinos buy providing us good governance and giving us solid solutions specially in this time where we’re in a Pandemic, they have their own selfish agendas. 3. Lastly, I am glad that Rizal law is published because every now and then we need Rizal’s writings to remind us to love and protect our country and countrymen. Most specially in this 21 st century wherein I feel that the Filipino identity is slowing fading because the youth today is very open in embracing other cultures in this globalized world which is also known as colonial mentality.

MY ASSESSMENT OF RA 1425: 1. What is the most important objective of RA1425 or Rizal law? Explain. - To strengthen our sense of nationalism and patriotism, to instill our own national identities in this globalized world, to love our countrymen and respect each end everyone’s human rights. According to the RA1425, the life, works, and writings of Rizal can be a constant and inspiring source of patriotism for the youth and rededicate the ideals of freedom and nationalism.

2. Agree/Disagree: RA 1425 or Rizal law should be retained. Why or why not?

I agree that the RA 1425 should be retained and not be abolished because as I said in my realizations from the reading, we’re still not really free from the leaders who abuses their power and manipulates us. The writings of Rizal should be passed on to the next generations to really fight for our freedom and stand with their human rights.

3. Prove: RA1425 or Rizal law is relevant to 21st century learners. - RA1425 is still relevant in this evolving time. Whatever century we are, Rizal law will always be relevant because we all now that Rizal really fought hard for us to get the freedom we deserve and share his knowledges and made us, Filipinos, know our worth and thought us that the real strength lies in the numbers, no man is an island. The writings or Rizal also thought us to give voices to those who is suffering from injustices specially today, with all of the extra judicial killings that is happening. The Rizal law tends to bring out the nationalism and patriotism values from the Filipinos towards its main goal which is cultural identification and economic development which are still very important today.

4. Create your own version or introduce your own changes of RA1425. - For me, the RA 1425 should specifically state that teaching of Rizal’s works and writings or literatures should be flexible. As we all know,

one of the hazards of teaching Rizal’s literatures is the translations because it comes with the risk of misinterpretation or misdirection if information either subconsciously or favoring a certain group of people. The Rizal course should be thought in the language that the students will understand. It must be relevant according to their needs and for them to assimilate the values of his writings.

5. Find applications or practical benefits of complying with RA1425. - With these coming elections, complying with RA1425 for me is very beneficial, I will surely vote for the leaders who I see that really love our country and fellow Filipinos. Leaders that can really make us feel free and safe in our own country. Leaders who will value his people than his own selfish needs. Those who are not abusive to his power and really respect our human rights and with that, I hope that we’ll feel the true freedom Rizal wants us to have....
