NE2004: RESEARCH METHODS ASSESSMENT.
What is the role of visual attention in dyslexia?
CANDIDATE NUMBER:
1) Background / Idea development 1a) Hypothesis or research question [Just one sentence – specifically which aspect of your research topic are you planning to test? Make your hypothesis “operational” (by defining the exact variables you plan to manipulate and measure) and try to make it “directional” (by specifying the result you expect).
1b) Annotated Bibliography [Provide the 3 most relevant references and briefly explain why each is useful in supporting your research proposals. The explanations (excluding the references) should be about 200-300 words in total. Try to cover: What’s known and what needs doing? The
three references should normally be very closely related in terms of topic area, although one reference might show different results to the others].
2) Methodology 2a) Method [Describe the method you plan to use highlighting any particular features you have introduced to ensure good research design. Highlight any parts you have adapted from previous research, particularly if you have improved upon them. Ensure you include the independent and dependent variables (and levels of the independent variables). A figure may also help clarify your design and stimuli. Up to 400-500 words should be sufficient here.]
2b) Expected results [How will you analyse the data? What should your results show you in relation to your original hypothesis? 100-150 words. You can include figures of expected results if you wish. Ensure that your proposed analysis matches your study design]
2c) Potential limitations of method chosen: [100 words should be sufficient here. If there are big or many issues you probably haven’t asked the right question or used the right method!]...
