TEAM PEER EV EVAL AL ALU UATION FORM The team must meet and assign scores to each team member that reflects how each team member contributed to the completion of the business consultancy report. This is an opportunity to reward the members of your team who worked hardest on the team’s behalf and it is also an opportunity to fairly reflect the effort of team members who did not perform as well or who did not make sufficient effort to participate in team activities. Individual marks will be adjusted based on the team ratings you give each individual. See the excel spreadsheet, How YOUR team’s ratings will affect YOUR marks, available under the assessment details link in Blackboard.

INSTRUCTIONS 1 2

3

List the name and ID of each team member. Agree to a team rating for each individual to reflect the contributions of each person to the completion of the project by distributing 100 percentage points among them. If the team had three members and all team members performed equally then all would receive 33 points. If one person receives more than 33 points then one or more others will need to receive less than 33 points. Include a comment justifying the team’s allocation for each person.

Supply Chain Management

Project Brief

Sam’s Office Plants Page 2

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The company we are working on is Sam’s Office Plants, which sells and rents out plants to offices. The problem they are facing is issues with synchronization, salesmen are unable to input their data from their mobile devices. If that was possible then it would be easier for the company to grow and develop. We think that the best system for this company is Supply Chain Management, which allows the company to have its own software helping with synchronizing all data without using eCommerce. We recommend to implement this system for Sam’s Office Plants, since it is the best option for their synchronization issue.

INTRODUCTION Company, we are working on is Sam's Office Plants, it is a small business operating in the suburb of North Melbourne, close to the Melbourne CBD, it operates from two locations, North Melbourne(Head Office) with a small warehouse, and an open horticultural section which is located on a large property in Lara, west of Melbourne. The business sells and rents office plants to both large and small company offices to improve their décor and interior landscaping for both staff and visitors.

BACKGROUND The problem, the company is facing, is synchronization of the facilities and data from sales staff. The ideal system to be implemented has to be convenient, cheap, since the margins of the firm are tight but also user friendly and portable.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS We think that the best system for this business is Supply Chain management. This system is great for our company since, it is not providing eCommerce services. The main goal, to develop better synchronization in the company, would be easily reached with implementation of this system. THE MEANING SCM SCM – Supply Chain Management is a System responsible for oversghting of materials, information and finances as they move from suppliers to retailer to consumer. It’s goal is

to reduce inventory, with the assumption that products are available when needed. ISSUES AND BENEFITS Benefits: The main benefit of implementing this system is that it is not expensive to implement and maintain, but also allows to synchronize all the information input by the salesmen (that connects with the fact that they do not have to be at the office by the end of each day to synchronize all information), excluding the possibility of doubling the input data. Another great benefit of such system is the portability, meaning that the salesmen could input their information to the company’s system from their mobile devices, such as laptops or tablets. Finally there is another benefit coming with this system, costs reduction, due to improved inventory management which also lowers time delays. Issues: The main issue connected with implementing SCM system is the synchronization itself, since minor connection (internet access) problem with the salesmen device may cause problems, such as double input of information or it’s deletion Another issue connected with implementation of this system is the amount of time that has to be contributed on training for the Staff of the company. CURRENT TRENDS AND EXAMPLES IN SCM SCM system is software used by many small companies, in this case the most important part is the portability.

RECOMMENDATIONS Small businesses don’t need to have large budget, either their own IT department. By using outsourced IT company, which would create and maintain such system, the costs of running Supply Chain Management system could be cut to minimal. This software would help Sam’s business to determine the due dates and products needed by clients, which are input by the salesman. Those information would be relevant to the warehouse. It would free up internal staff to run day by day business operations without any time delays. It would be important to focus on internal training for the employees during the implementation of SCM system, however it would not be very time consuming.

Project Brief

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS Hardware 

The hardware is not very relevant for this kind of system, since it has to be compatible with varies types of devices.

Software 

The best option for creating such system is to have it outsourced by external IT company, which would make it for different type of devices

People 

This is the main part of implementing this system, the staff has to be thoroughly trained before starting to use it, however it would not be a difficult goal to achieve

Procedures 

The procedures would not change drastically, since they it be just easier, the salesmen could be inputting their information from any location they happen to be in.

Data 

Data collected would not change, since the information gathered would be the same.

CONCLUSION In this report we focused on choosing the right system for Sam’s Office Plant (small company operating in Melbourne), its relevance and importance to the business, and finally, the benefits and issues of implementing such system.
