Branchial Muscles ●

Quadratomandibularis (1st constrictor): close the mouth



Preorbitalis (1st constrictor): Close the mouth



Intermandibularis (1st constrictor): raises floor of mouth & pushes water out of gill slits



Epihydoideus (from 2nd constrictor): Compress the gill pouches



Interhydoideus (from 2nd constrictor): compress the gill pouches



Levator maxillae superioris: raises the upper jaw



Dorsal superficial constrictors (3rd - 6th): compress pharyngeal chamber, eject water, & close the gill slits
