PNC shows the registration and keeper SIO takes over the case and has to make decisions on what to do next. All decisions need to be recorded TIE trace interview eliminate. Find out as much as possible before arrest 24hr surveillance on him. Seen cleaning his rear passenger seat with cleaning fluid Then seen throwing away what turns out to be seat and headrest covers - seized Then puts perfume bottle in dog bin Seen driving through a village and then police spot material burning in a road nearby – seized He is asked for a swab, where he was etc. noticeably nervous Decision not to arrest for one more day

He then directs them to another county and they find another body from 10 years ago He gets to station and asks for a lawyer SIO goes to the media and tells them everything he has found out Confessions were thrown out because SIO deliberately breached PACE but SIO weighed that out with the girl’s right to life SIO came under a lot of criticism by the family, police, media Democracy held up by the rule of law
