STONEFEST

You are the communication team for a group that want to bring the Stonefest Music Festival in Canberra back to life. Stonefest was a party/ music festival that ran from 1973 to 2011. Stonefest evolved from the annual celebrations at the University of Canberra held in honour of the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Gorton in 1968. From the mid 1970s these celebrations extended into a whole week known as Stoneweek, which eventually became Stonefest in 2000. The Festival was an extremely popular event in Canberra, and the biggest university festival in Australia. It was thus an identifying event of the University of Canberra ‘brand’. However, the appearance of competing music festivals in Canberra, such as Grooving the Moo and Foreshore Summer Music Festival, led to a drop in ticket sales. Stonefest was no longer a viable entity and for all intents and purposes closed down in 2012. Now, a group called “Canberra UP” want to revive Stonefest . They have employed you as the communication team to develop the Festival’s communication strategies and deal with any issues that arise as the Festival is re-established.
