Research Proposal The research proposal is an important part of your dissertation. It provides you and the stakeholders of your project a holistic understanding of what the project is about, how you are planning to carry it out (research method) and why (rationale for the study). In drafting the proposal (1000 words), you will be able to focus your thoughts and develop your ideas. The process will also encourage you to continue to read around your proposed topic are and to clarity the purpose of your dissertation. Research proposal is the overall plan for the project and should include the areas outlined below. The guidance notes are neither prescriptive nor exhaustive. You should provide as much detail as possible. * A working Title (This is your cover page) * Table of Content * Introduction  Research Rationale (the purpose and why it is important to continue your study)  Your research question or hypothesis  Your aims and objectives for the study * Outline of the Literature Review     

This should be an initial review of some of the key academic literature that you will use to inform your research What area(s) of theory are relevant to your topic / question? What are the key issues and debates? What do we already know about your topic / question? What we do not know?

How you address the question or test the hypothesis What methodology, methods that you aim to follow and why

Briefly discuss potential limitations
