3.

Go to WebEx (At this point, you should see a meeting scheduled for the day and time for your section of the course)

4.

You can click the link to join and you should be able to enter.

NB: Your name on WebEx should match your name on your student ID card. Please do not use shortened names or nicknames. These names will be used for the attendance lists. You might be marked as absent if the above-mentioned names do not match.

Tutorial Worksheets Tutorial worksheets are available, please go through this before each lab, ask questions and contribute during the lab sessions. To access these, 1.

You will need to go to the UM Learn page for the lab (Math-1500-B## - Introduction to Calculus)

2.

Go to Content

3.

Scroll to Tutorial Worksheets and click on it

4.

Access the tutorial worksheets for each week

NB: The worksheets are not term test questions, so please do not expect your term tests to be similar to the worksheets.

Tests From Feb 5th, 2021, there will be term tests that will be held during the tutorial times. The tests will be at the beginning of the tutorial. There will be a total of 9 term tests. After the tests or during the tutorials without tests, the time will be spent doing practise problems and working on worksheets with the assistance of a TA. NB: You MUST attend your scheduled tutorial to get any credit for tests. Also, while no doctor’s notes are required, students who miss writing a term test must contact and notify the lab coordinator and lab TA no later than 48 hours after their scheduled test (but preferably earlier).

Practice Quizzes and Crowdmark Instructions There will be at least one practice quiz worth 0 marks to get used to the system, and an honesty declaration. These are mandatory. A student who fails to complete any of these and then has technical difficulties during the real tests will receive a score of 0. You will receive an email with a link to the questions in your university student email accounts. You will follow the link in the email to the quiz questions. You will answer the test on paper, showing all work. Please do this before the first term test. After the test is over, you will have unlimited time to upload your test to Crowdmark (In a term test you have only 10 mins, unless stated otherwise). You can take pictures of your solutions, or scan them, but must be able to have files that are not too large to upload. At that point, you will upload to Crowdmark (Use the practice quizzes to figure and sort out any issues you might have uploading exams on Crowdmark, and with that create a system that will work for the real tests). Contact me if you have any questions or problems with this ([email protected]).

Before the Test 1.

Be at the tutorials, and be there on time, especially for the tutorials with tests. To be safe make sure to test your internet and devices 15 mins earlier and join the session 5 mins early.

2.

Ensure that your name on WebEx matches your name on your student ID card. Please do not use shortened names or nicknames. This will be used for the attendance lists.

You might be marked as absent if the above-mentioned names do not match. 3.

Join the tutorial with an active webcam during the test, and have your microphones on mute. NB: Your camera should be on at all times during the test duration (This is usually the first 35 mins of the tutorial session).

4.

Have your student ID card readily available.

5.

Have your email accounts opened and ready to receive emails. The tests will be held remotely using Crowdmark. At the beginning of the test, you will receive an email with a link to the questions.

During the Test 1.

At the beginning of the tutorials, the TA will let everyone in to start inspecting IDs, if you are late, you will only be let in when the Inspection is done, your ID will still be inspected at the expense of the time intended for your test. No extra time will be awarded to you in this situation.

2.

During the first 5 minutes of the tutorial, the TA will check student cards. Make sure you have a student card. In the event of a lost student card, some photo ID will be temporarily acceptable, but should not happen every test. When the TA requests for your student Id, please show your face and your student ID at the same time for inspection. When your ID is inspected your name will be mentioned so you can put down your ID.

3.

After 5 minutes, the test will be released to students via email. You will follow the link in the email to the questions just like during your practice test(s). You will read the test instructions and answer the test on paper, showing all work. You will have 20 minutes to do the test unless told otherwise.

4.

After the test is over, you will have 10 minutes to upload your test to Crowdmark just like the practice test(s). You can take pictures of your solutions, or scan them, but must be able to have files that are not too large to upload. Ensure that the images of your solutions are clear (blurred images would not be marked)

5.

Upload your solutions to Crowdmark and Click on Submit for evaluation.

6.

Once the uploading is done, take a deep breath, grab a glass of water, and the rest of the tutorial will commence. NB: The TA will no longer be dealing with test issues and will move on to the rest of the tutorial.

NB: If the test is not uploaded on time, 50% of the marks will be removed. If the test is still

not uploaded after another minute, 100% of the marks will be removed.

Upload Issues Protocol You should ideally not be facing any upload issues if you used the mock exam to master uploading tests on Crowdmark. However, in the unlikely situation an issue arises, kindly follow this protocol: 1.

Inform your TA immediately via the chat feature of WebEx

2.

Send your solutions to your TA via email: 1.

All your solutions should be sent to them in one email

2.

At least one image for each question answered. And the images should be properly named (Q1a, Q2 etc. )

3.

Continue uploading your work on Crowdmark until it is successful. (If not you’ll get a 0)

4.

If any discrepancy is found between the test you sent via email and that which is finally uploaded on Crowdmark, that will be viewed as academic misconduct.

NB: If this process is started after the exam duration, it will be invalid.
