ENROLLMENT CHECKLIST Check your email regularly for information you will need during the enrollment process.

1. SET UP YOUR MySCCC PORTAL ACCOUNT and SCCC EMAIL: Your next step is to set up and become familiar with the MySCCC student portal. We have created helpful videos to guide you through the process. You will need your Student ID# from your acceptance letter. Please complete the following: a.

Create your MySCCC username and password

b.

Set up and learn to navigate your MySCCC portal

c.

Activate your SCCC email and email us from it

Be sure to check your SCCC email frequently for your new student advisement appointment.

2. APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID: The federal application is available online at fafsa.ed.gov. You can complete your New York State Aid application via the link on the FAFSA confirmation page or when you receive notification from HESC. You can obtain further

information about paying for college and applying for financial aid by registering for a Financial Aid Information Workshop at sunysuffolk.edu/FinancialAid.

3. ACADEMIC PLACEMENT AND ADVISING: At this time, the College determines academic placement by a comprehensive assessment of the student’s high school or previous college transcript(s). This assessment is done to ascertain appropriate mathematics, English, or reading placement to better ensure student success. Any student who feels that the placement recommendation is not in his or her best interest may discuss this with the advisor at that time.

4. SUBMIT YOUR IMMUNIZATION RECORDS: You will need to provide documentation for two measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) immunizations. Submit your health records or Certificate of Immunization, along with your Health History Form, by email to the Health Services Office on your home campus. If you have served in the military in the past 10 years, email your discharge papers and your medical records (if available).

5. DOCUMENT YOUR DISABILITY: Students who need accommodations must submit written documentation of their disability to their home campus Office of Disability Services as soon as possible. This will allow the College sufficient time to arrange for accommodations and services before the start of classes. You will need to document your disability and request special testing conditions as needed (e.g., reader, extended time, writer, etc.) You can email your documentation to the Office of Disability Services on your home campus.

6. CERTIFICATE OF RESIDENCY: If you are a New York State resident but have not resided in Suffolk County for six months, contact your County Clerk’s Office for a Certificate of Residence form. You can download the form at sunysuffolk.edu/out-ofcounty.

7. TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR: Take a virtual tour of any of our

campus locations.

8. PARTICIPATE IN ORIENTATION: Students and parents are invited to participate in our orientation process. You can attend the Virtual Orientation anytime at https:// orientation.sunysuffolk.edu/ or by logging into your MySCCC account and clicking on the New Student Orientation Tab. Students will receive an email to register for the Peer to Peer Orientation during New Student Registration.

9. MINIMUM COMPUTING REQUIREMENTS: Every course given at SUNY Suffolk requires some level of technology usage. This guide is meant to give you the basics before you get to your first class. Review this Quick Guide to Technology at SUNY Suffolk.

10. SCHOLARSHIPS: The Suffolk Community College Foundation awards more than $625,000 in scholarships for incoming, continuing, and graduating Suffolk students.
