Forensic model- primary concern is safety of the child, but not really the child’s feelings 30% of calls are screened in, 60% of calls screened out Mandated reporter- someone who is required to report suspected child abuse because of their job or position Intake -> Screening -> Cross-notify with law enforcement (both screened in and screened out) -> Within 24 hours, Screen In or Screen Out Screen In: ● Family Investigation ● Family Assessment ● Facility Investigation Screen Out: ● Mandated child welfare response, sexually exploited youth, child crime victim, prenatal exposure to substances ● Voluntary services offer: Parent Support Outreach Program, child welfare, mental health, chemical dependency ● No further action required, all screened out reports retained for five years Phone lines have 24 hour coverage Allegation types: ● Substantial child endangerment ● Sexual abuse ● Neglect ● Physical abuse ● Mental injury ● Threatened injury...
