Taylor St.) Prerequisites: BIOS 120 (formerly called BIOS 101) Required Textbooks: Elements of Ecology (9th Edition) by Smith and Smith. Evolutionary Analysis (5th Edition) by Herron and Freeman. Student Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will gain an understanding of basic ecological principles and how ecosystems work 2. Students will understand how evolution shapes organisms and ecosystems 3. Students will understand how natural systems and evolutionary processes are affected by human activity Last day to drop this course without penalty: Friday, January 24, 2020 Last day to drop and receive a “W” on your transcript: Friday, March 20, 2020 Grading Policy and Exams: There will be three 100-point exams (multiple choice, fill in the blank, short answer, and/or essay questions). Each test will count for 20% of your final grade (all three tests are 60% of your grade). There will also be 200 points worth of homework and/or quizzes (40% of your grade). Homework due dates are typically at least one week after the assignment is given. Due dates will be posted on Blackboard and on the assignment itself. I do not grade on a curve.
