Geography: Realms, Regions and Concepts. 15th or 16th Ed Recommended: Access to a good atlas (either book or online) Learning Objectives The goal of this course is to gain an understanding of different cultures and regions through examination of cultural, political, economic, and physical features of the inhabited areas of the Earth. Emphasis will be placed on such issues as location, development, population, politics, economic linkages, human rights, customs, and belief systems in an attempt to gain a broader understanding of the complex relationships among the regions of the globe. General Policies Attendance in class is very important. Please turn off (or put in silent mode) cellular phones and beepers during class meetings. Avoid any use of other electronic devices that may disturb other students. BE ON TIME FOR ALL QUIZZES AND EXAMS!!! If you are more than 30 minutes late, you will not be allowed to take it.

FINAL EXAM – TBD Grades Your final grade is based on 2 quizzes, midterm and final. They will consist of both multiple choice and short answer questions. The point value for these is divided up in the following manner: Map Quiz #1 Midterm Map Quiz #2 Final Total 89.5-92.9% = A-, 79.5-82.9% = B-, 69.5-72.9% = C-, 59.5-62.9% = D-, Below 59.5% = F

-25 pts -- 100 pts -50 pts -- 150 pts -- 325 pts

93-96.9% = A, 83-86.9% = B, 73-76.9% = C, 63-66.9% = D,

97-100% = A+ 87-89.4% = B+ 77-79.4% = C+ 67-69.4% = D+
