Render, & Stair. ISBN: 9780130661951. The electronic textbook at the SFU Burnaby bookstore should be priced at approx. $100. Older versions are acceptable for use. (For example the book you may have used in BUEC232) Required Software: Students should be aware that this course used Excel 2016 extensively. If you do not have Excel 2016, please make sure to sign up for Microsoft 365 for free using the following site: https://www.sfu.ca/itservices/technical/software.html Course description This course introduces quantitative techniques for modeling and analysis of business problems. We will concentrate on frequently used quantitative and decision making models which are applied to management in business and government. The topics include decision analysis, forecasting, linear programming (the allocation and scheduling of resources), simple and multiple regression, simulation modeling. Excel Spreadsheet models are extensively used in this course. Course Website: canvas.sfu.ca Communication: The best way to get extra help in this course is through face-to-face communication during Open Labs or Office hours. Canvas is used for communicating information and disseminating class materials. Please make sure to check your SFU email and the course website frequently. Class materials will often be posted the evening prior to every class. Grading:

Assignments: Late assignments will not be accepted for marking. Assignments must be done on an individual basis unless otherwise specified by the instructor. Discussion and collaboration among students is encouraged, but on individual assignments, each student must build his or her own computer file and submit his or her own original work. Identical submissions are a form of academic dishonesty and will immediately receive a mark of zero and possibly infringe upon your academic record! Please refer to “Code of Academic Policy – T10.02 – Forms of Academic Dishonesty” [http://www.sfu.ca/policies/teaching/t10-02.htm] Your assignments should be presented with the same quality as you would a piece of business correspondence to your customer or your boss. The neatness and quality of your submission with contribute to your marks.

Final Exam: TBA Makeup Exams or Tests: There will be NO makeup tests, exams or quizzes. If you miss an exam, you will receive zero marks. Exceptions may be considered for documented medical reasons from SFU’s Health Services or extenuating circumstances. In such a case, it is the responsibility of the student to inform the instructor immediately. Notification after the examination date is not acceptable and will result with a grade of zero.
