Description

The Salem Witch trial took place in the Massachusetts colony between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of witchcraft (devil magic) and 20 were executed. In the end, the colony admitted that the trial was the fault and compensated the families of the convicted. Since then, the story of the trial has become synonymous with paranoia and injustice, and today, more than 300 years later, it continues to trick the public into imagination. Salem struggles with the centuries ago, prolific Christians and other religious believers believed that the devil could make certain people understand that witches have the right to hate others in exchange for their loyalty. This “witchcraft creation” that spread in Europe originated in the 1300s and 1600s. Tens of thousands of so-called witches (mainly women) were executed. Although the only way for the Salem trial to enter Europe has ended, the local situation can be explained. In 1689, the British rulers William and Mary launched the war and captured France's rule in the American colonies. Knowing King William's war against the colonists, it swept through the northern states of New York, Nova Scotia and Quebec, sending refugees to Essex, especially the Salem village in the Gulf of Massachusetts colony. (The village of Salem is today's Danfoss, Massachusetts; the colony of Salem, now to Salem.) Displaced people have caused tensions in Salem resources. This exacerbates the existing competition between the family associated with the wealth of Salem Port and the family that the person still depends on agriculture. The controversy was also triggered by the priest Samuel Paris, who became the first pastor of Salem Village in 1689 and was hated by his rigid methods and greedy character. The Puritan villagers, everyone arguing about the devil. In January 1692, the daughter of Paris, the daughter of Parris, 9-year-old Elizabeth and 11-year-old niece Abigail Williams began to become "healthy." Those people scream, throw things, make strange noises and twist themselves into strange positions, which is the supernatural responsibility of the local doctor. Another 11-year-old girl, Ann

Putnam, experienced a similar episode. On February 29, under the pressure of local magistrates Jonathan Cowen and John Hawthorn, the girl accused three women of tormenting them: Tituba, the Caribbean slave of Paris; Sarah, this homeless good; Sarah Osborne, an elderly poor woman

" She hates me, uncle, she must, for I would not be her slave. It’s a bitter woman, a lying, cold, sniveling woman, and I will not work for such a woman!" (68)

"My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name is soiled! Goody Proctor is a gossiping liar!" (69)

“PROCTOR, his smile widening: Ah, you're wicked yet, aren't y'! (A trill of expectant laughter escapes her, and she dares come closer, feverishly looking into his eyes.) You’ll be clapped in the stocks before you're twenty” (84). “ABIGAIL, with a bitter anger: Oh, I marvel how such a strong man may let such a sickly wife bePROCTOR, angered-at himself as well: You'll speak nothing' of Elizabeth! ABIGAIL: She is blackening my name in the village! She is telling lies about me! She is a cold, sniveling woman, and you bend to her! Let her turn you like a-” (87).

“ABIGAIL: Now look you. All of you. We danced. And Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam's dead sisters. And that is all. And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring

a pointy reckoning that will shudder you. And you know I can do it; I saw Indians smash my dear parents' heads on the pillow next to mine, and I have seen some reddish work done at night, and I can make you wish you had never seen the sun go down! She goes to Betty and roughly sits her up. Now, you-sit up and stop this!” (80-81).
