“The Curious case of Benjamin Button” - Differences between the book and the movie. Even if the book and film share the same name, they are very different from each other. To start, the story setting differs, while the book settles in 1860, the movie does in 1918 (21st century). Because of this, the character development is completely different. In the book, Benjamin is born as a 70-year-old man, he acts and thinks like a grown up, he doesn't like toys or playing with other kids, gets bored in school and smokes cigarettes. His parents decided to take him home and treat him like his son, who was a child. Otherwise, the movie represents Benjamin as a baby with wrinkled skin who later on will grow into an old man. He acts and thinks like a child and behaves like a newborn. His mom dies after giving birth and his father leaves him. The book mentions how he was wrapped around a blanket that didn't cover all his body while in the movie you can see him fitting perfectly. Later on, as he grows up there are differences in everything he does. When he falls in love in the film it's real and forever, he also has a daughter who he leaves. Sadly, in the book, he becomes selfish and with time starts to despise his wife who keeps getting older, they have a son, and their son has a son. In conclusion there are many differences between the movie and the story, the most notorious ones are the narrator, the setup of the story, the place, the time, the people and his work....
