INTRODUCTION What you know about wearing sunscreen? Why you need to wear sunscreen? Sunscreen is to help shield the skin from harm that caused by exposure to the sun and helps protect against UVA and UVB rays. Sunscreen can also temporarily prevent the development of wrinkles, dark spots and sagging skin by using it constantly for all ages, genders, and skin types. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), most people only apply 2550% of the recommended amount of sunscreen and only 14.3% of men and 29.9% of women regularly use sunscreen on their face and others exposed skin (American Academy of Dermatology, 2019).

TRANSITION: (I have already explain about what is sunscreen. Now, let’s begin with the first point which is sunscreen can prevent you from sunburn.)

1

BODY:

1. Sunscreen can prevent from sunburn A. Skin without sunscreen and unprotected will burn faster or more severely when index of UV is high. The danger of sunburn goes far beyond any shortterm pain, redness and discomfort because after the sunburn fades the lasting damage remains. B. Next, be careful especially when the sun is strongest. However, even when the index is low, the risk remains so you must constantly apply sunscreen when needed. People who get sunburned usually the one who did not use enough sunscreen and reapply it after being in the sun. Therefore, whether you are on vacation or taking a walk in your neighborhood, remember to use sunscreen. C. According to the Better Health Channel, when skin is exposed to UV radiation, more melanin is produced, causing the skin to darken and tan. A tan is a sign that the skin has been damaged from UV radiation as melanin works by darkening your unprotected sun-exposed skin (Better Health Channel, 2016).

TRANSITION: (I have already tell you about the first point. Now, move to the next point which is sunscreen can reduce the risk of skin cancer.)

2. Sunscreen can reduce the risk of skin cancer A. A frequent use of sunscreen can protect your skin against the sun’s broad spectrum of harmful UV rays. Yet, excessive sun exposure without sunscreen can increase the risk of skin cancer and damage the DNA of skin cells. It mainly develops on areas of the body that are most exposed to sunlight such as the face, neck, chest, arms, hands and legs and it can be recognize as Melanoma. B. Melanoma is known to be extremely aggressive and can be life-threatening for many people particularly those in their 20s. It spreads through the bloodstream and can become life-threatening in as little as six weeks and if untreated, it can spread to other parts of the body. Thus, sunscreen is very important to your skin since it can reduce the risk of skin cancer.

C. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), you need to use sunscreen whenever you are going to be outside even on cloudy days. Moreover, you must apply enough sunscreen to cover all of your skin and most adults need about 1 ounce to fully cover their body. You must reapply sunscreen every two hours, or after swimming or sweating when doing outdoor activities to reduce the risk of skin cancer (American Academy of Dermatology, 2019).

TRANSITION: (After I have tell you about the second point, now let us move to the last point which is sunscreen helps against the visible signs of premature aging.)

3. Sunscreen helps against the visible signs of premature aging A. Without sunscreen, your skin will slows down its production of collagen, the protein that gives your skin its shape. Collagen is what helps your skin bounce back and stay plump. With less collagen in the skin, it is easier for visible sagging to occur and you might notice this happening more in areas like the forehead or where you are more exposed to the sun. B. Besides, excessive UV rays can weakening the skin strength and elasticity, deep wrinkles, fine red veins on the cheeks, freckles and dark spots in various areas which is makes you look older than you actually are. So, the usage of sunscreen is really importance for you because it helps you against premature aging. C. According to Harvard Medical School, approximately 95% of the UV radiation reaching our skin is ultraviolet A (UVA) light, which is primarily responsible for chronic effects such as wrinkling and age spots (Harvard Medical School, 2018).

CONCLUSION In conclusion, general public need to wear sunscreen because it can helps against the visible signs of premature aging, reduce risk of skin cancer, prevent from sunburn. The sun is shining brightly up there and you need to be extra cautious before stepping out in the sun. Indirectly, if you do not apply sunscreen before go outside, you could do a lot of damage to the DNA of your skin cells. Therefore, you really need to use sunscreen in your daily life before bad circumstances happen to your skin. 3
