Calypso keeps Odysseus on her island to turn him into her immortal husband. 2. What does Calypso say about the treatment of men and women? She stands for diverting men from their goals by seduction and empowering women. 3. What is Odysseus’ main problem when he is at sea? The main problem Odysseus faces when he is at sea is that he is equipped with an unprotective raft given to him by Calypso. This raft becomes a problem because Poseidon creates a storm. 4. What happens to Odysseus at the end of this book? At the end of book 5, Odysseus is given an immortal scarf by Ino that protects him against the storm Book 6 5. Athena again helps Odysseus indirectly. What does she do and how does this ultimately help Odysseus? She helps Odysseus by supporting him to the other gods with her divine powers. 6. What instructions does Nausicaa give Odysseus? Nausicaa instructs Odysseus to “follow the mules and wagon”.
