Psychodynamic: Amy was born in London into a Jewish family. Her parents separated when she was 9 and she was kicked out of school at a young age. Her parents suffered from drug and alcohol issues as she grew up. Amy also struggled with an eating disorder, anxiety and depression as she got older. In 2006, her grandmother passed away. This tragic event, along with the other difficulties she grew up with, set off her addiction problems.
Behavioral: When Amy was 16 she was expelled for “not applying herself”. She told the news that she overdosed on heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, whiskey, and vodka. In 2007, photos of a bruised, bandaged, & blood-soaked Amy arose. In 2008, a video came up of Amy smoking crack. She was arrested for questioning. She said, “The more insecure I feel, the more I drink.” Amy died on July 23, 2011 at the age of 27 because of alcohol poisoning.
Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse was a famous singer known for her drug and alcohol problems.
Humanistic: Amy was famous for her big hair and eye makeup. She would not perform without either of them. In the 8 years of her musical career, she only performed without her hair and makeup a rare few times near the end of her life. Also, she wrote her songs based on her life. The sorrow and tragedy in her songs reflected her true depressive state of matter. Biological: Amy Winehouse had emphysema, bulimia, manic depression, and bipolar disorder. Cognitive: Amy had severe manic depression which led to her substance abuse of alcohol and various different drugs. The depression also led her to self harm and a serious eating disorder.
Sociocultural: Amy Winehouse was a very popular rock star when she was alive. The pressure of all the fame and failure pushed her to do drugs and alcohol. She would have to look and play the part everyday of her life and the psychological pressure got to be too much for her to handle. Also, Amy’s ex-husband, Blake, was the one who introduced her to drugs. The two would cut themselves to ease the pain of withdrawal from the drugs....
