Title and Publication: The Story of an Hour. Published on 1899. Author: Kate Chopin (1851-1904). Protagonist: In this story the main character is the author who has struggled a lot after her husband’s death. Her best feature is she used her writing to make her living with her kids and showed the conflict between the society and freedom. Characters: In this story the character who had similar information was Mrs. Mallard. She had heart trouble when she heard about her husband’s death. Setting: Here the setting is kind of sad because the story started with a sad news of her husband’s death. She had to go through a lot of stress and she didn’t even believed how bitter was the truth. She had to live for herself now and that’s that isolation which was making her feel bad. Point of View: The story is told from the point of view of how woman sacrifices her feelings and life for her close ones. Conflict: We should favor because the conflict here is her feelings. It is conflicting with her life as she lost her husband. Plot: The rising action was her joy which led her to death as she couldn’t deal with that feelings. Tone: Here the author was feeling sad for the character because like the character the author had also lost her husband and struggled in life. The author was also upset for the event which caused the main character to break a part and ultimately death. Irony: Irony like the fear and sounds contributed to the story and gave us the imagination of how the characters were feeling that time.

Symbols: In the story the only symbol I found was the clouds that had piled one above the other in the west facing her window. Which in other words meant that she had problems one after another in her life. Theme: The main theme of the story is pain and suffering. The author is saying about how the character and herself felt when they were suffering and how that impacted on their lives. Evaluation: I think that the story is sadly, and it gave the feelings of how they felt when they were dealing with their emotions. The story also showed the difference between the inner world and the outer life. So, I think the author has done a wonderful job writing this story....
