Description

The vroom-Yetton –Jago Decision Model The model is a contingency approach to group decision making that is designed specifically to help leaders select the best approach to making decisions. The model identifies different ways a decision can be made by considering the degree of followers participation.it proposes a method for leaders to select the right approach to making a decision in a given set of circumstances.

The model can be expressed using words for each set of decision. If the answer to the first question, to the quality of the decision is important, is No it will automatically transfer to the next level criterion question? Is team commitment important to the decision? If answered yes then it will transfer to criterion question five which asks if you made the decision yourself, would the team support it. If yes the management decision style would be Autocratic type 1 (A1), if answered no your management decision model would be Group based decision type 2 (G2). For the earlier level two questions if the answer is No the management decision model would be Autocratic type 1 (A1).Again for the level one question answered yes leads to the second question that asks if the team commitment is important on the decision if no will go to level three question that asks do you have enough info to make the decision on your own? If answered yes the management decision model would be Autocratic type 1 (A1) if no leads to level four question. Is the problem well-structured? If answered no the management decision model would be consultative type 2 (C2) if the answer is yes leads to level six. For the earlier level two questions if answered yes then level three questions will be initiated. Do you have enough info to make the decision on your own? If answered yes then go to level five questions which ask if you made the decision yourself, would the team support you? If returned yes, Autocratic type 2 (A2) would be the management decision model if no go to level six which asks does the team share organizational goals. Will be followed by Group based type 2(G2) decision model for answer yes and Consultative type 2 (C2) for answer no. For the level three question the answer is No then level four will be requested is the problem well-structured if yes go to level five and ask if you made the decision yourself would the team support it? If yes then does the team share organizational goals will be the next question .For the level six question the answer is yes the final question will be asked is conflict among the team over the decision likely if yes Consultative type 1(C1) is your decision model. If answered no Autocratic 2(A2) is your decision model. If the answer for the earlier level four questions is no leads to level five questions and if answered yes then consultative type 2 (C2) would be the decision model if no the earlier answers for level six would hold. If the answer for level six is no the Autocratic type 2(A2) would be chosen as a decision model. Furthermore the answer for level five is no level six will be asked and if answered yes the decision would be Group based type 2 (G2) if the question is conflict among the team over the decision likely holds yes. If the same question answered no consultative type 2(C2) decision model will be selected....
