Description

Writing Portion: In this play, Athletic sock comes off as immature and easily distracted. I believe he is around 8-year-old Caucasian boy that has a middle-class family. This age range would put him in around the 3rd or 4th grade, but there is a possibility, he might have failed a grade solely because of his quick attention span and not a result of his intelligence. He also might have ADD or ADHD because he is distracted extremely easily. As his name implies, he probably is a very athletic child. He might play a sport or two such as basketball or baseball and spend a majority of his time running outside with friends. Ankle sock sounds more mature than Athletic sock yet still immature. I believe he is a Caucasian man in his early 20s. The way he speaks makes him appear educated, so more than likely is in a local community college. Athletic and Ankle sock both interact decently well despite the age difference. Ankle sock knows just how to distract Athletic sock when he wants to, so they might be related in some way such as cousins. They don’t really have a rivalry of sorts, but there is a scene where Athletic sock questions Ankle sock in a way when Ankle sock is being rude to Colored sock. Ankle sock is much more hostile than Athletic sock.

Ankle sock: Nick Robinson He got this role because he has experience as all kinds of different characters Colored sock: Miles Brown He got this role because he also has experience in productions with serious topics.

Page 307-308: Right after the line “That was a close one-“ Colored sock is pushed in from stage right and falls near the other two socks at center stage right. Athletic and Ankle sock look at each other is disbelief as Colored sock stands up and wipes himself off. They all stare at each other for a few beats,

and then, Ankle screams. As they all start screaming, Ankle starts running towards down stage between the left part of the stage and the center. The Athletic and Colored starts running about randomly, which quickly turns into them chasing each other around center stage. As Athletic passes Ankle, Ankle grabs Athletic by the back of the elastic band at the top of the sock. As Ankle questions Athletic, Athletic looks almost frightened as if he did something wrong. On the line “I’m running with him”, Athletic points at Colored and becomes more accusatory. Ankle takes Athletic and moves all the way down stage left....
