Bollywood Theme Café Nostalgia

What problem is your idea trying to solve, or which gap in the market is your idea trying to fit into? – Our themed cafe idea aims to bring uniqueness to the pre-existing food and beverage industry. By taking the traditional fast dining experiencing and bringing a touch of nostalgia and entertainment to it. It aims to take a generic concept of a café house and make it special and provide distinct experience to the consumers. The problem that our idea tries to solve is the bland and repetitive coffee shop experience that most customers are used to. What is your idea? Can you write your idea in less than 200 words? The idea that our team came up with is taking normal coffee house experience to the next level by bringing a theme and a distinct experience to it. Nostalgia is the initial name selected for the brand name (at the time being) and shall be referred by it here on. Nostalgia provides distinct service experience to its customer base by providing the common refreshments and snacks that can be found in any local café, but the theme of Bollywood classics takes over and can be found in its décor, food, beverages, and refreshments. Nostalgia offers a memorable and exciting experience to its customers, especially to the fans of the old Bollywood classics. The name Nostalgia is also inspired by the feeling that one gets when met with the environment within the restaurant. The main idea of a Bollywood Themed Café is to give a distinct and special experience to its customer base. What makes Nostalgia different is the dominant theme and concept behind its refreshment, architecture, its structure, and it all done and created in a manner to make the environment special and unique to the fans and non-fans of Bollywood. Café over the years have gotten bland and repetitive, therefore Nostalgia was created; to bring the culture of fast casual dinein back, with the inclusion of a set theme that can be seen in the décor and special easter eggs hidden in the café.

If the idea was to be summed up in a sentence, then. Nostalgia aims to bring together the local citizens joy through the love and interest of Bollywood and exceptional food, served with care in a cozy and nostalgic environment to create a sense of community for all people of all ages to enjoy. - How does it address the problem you’ve identified? Normal cafés can be found in every block of the city, but they are all same with little to no different, offering the same refreshments with the same tasting food. Nostalgia wishes for customers to experience a distinction- not just with the environment but with the food as well. Nostalgia takes a step further in-order to give the consumers a different and outstanding dine-in experience. What is your role in the business? As Nostalgia is a start-up business, I have assumed the role of the manager. I oversee the main operations of the business, from hiring employees to overseeing the day-to-day dealings as owning and running a café comes with benefits and as well as responsibilities. Managers are expected to work long hours of the day and make decisions that are in best interest to the business. As a café manager, my role is to consider and revise the business plan if need arises, oversee the ergonomics and aesthetics of the business especially more-so understanding the concept of Nostalgia is based on its aesthetic Bollywood concept. Staff Management and Crafting Menu is also my responsibility as a manager. - Who else will help you run the business or be part of your team? What skills do they bring (that are different to yours)? The business is expected to be run by my 5 other partners, and each individual brings a unique set of skills and expertise to the business that is why we have decided to work on Nostalgia. The skills that the partners offer are design, knowledge, marketing, and culinary skills. - What skills are missing from the team? How are you going to develop your networks to help you fill the gaps? At the time of forming an idea, the skills that are missing from the team are generally networking and past experience. All of us have not had proper experience

in starting a business such as Nostalgia but we aim to expand our network that will fulfil the gaps. The team of Nostalgia aims to expand network by engaging our target audience in the process that will help create buzz around the business and ultimately fill the gaps.

What is the potential size and scale of your market? How many potential customers do you really have? Nostalgia is a small-scale business that will operate at a single location initially before expanding according to its demand. The target market for our café includes, foodies, students, workers, Bollywood fans and whole bean buyers. The demand for café is growing rapidly in Islamabad especially and there are not numerous café spots in the city that offers the unique experience that Nostalgia promises to bring. According to limitation of data, there is not an estimate of potential customers however, if we take a look at the competitors of Nostalgia; it becomes clear that demand for café is growing locally. characteristics/needs that are common to the group? Since our business is a themed concept, our main focus is the Bollywood fanatics that wish to visit our café spot filled with their interests, so our target market is open to anyone that has their interest aligned with that of our business. Nostalgia, however, does offer interest to individuals that are non-fans because of social media and the influence of Instagramable concept that is offered at our business. So, the target audience for our themed café includes individuals that are fans of Bombay Cinema, individuals with disposable income, tourists and young people that wish to visit for the theme itself. Who are your key competitors? What do they do well? What can you do better? The key competitors to our business are potentially both themed cafes and restaurants as Nostalgia offers not only beverages but eatery as well. However, our most closest competitor is Hot Spot Café in Islamabad situated near Lake View Park.

Their theme matches well with ours as their theme is Pakistani-film inspired. The most popular item on their menu is their ice-cream. Our 2 nd competitor is Kallisto in Bahria Town that is inspired by Greek/Egyptian culture. The most promising aspect about their restaurant is the dedication to the theme itself. Its outer appearance is rock-styled and gives a stone-age vibe....
