Form and decide on a research question and outline the methodology that will be used to carry out the research. Fill out a research proposal and ethics application form. Apply for ethical approval for the research. After ethical approval has been granted, begin drafting fieldwork questions for the questionnaires and interviews, making sure to plan all questions thoroughly and in depth to gain valid, reliable results when conducting research. Start the process of contacting settings with information about the research. Ask the gatekeeper/ head teacher if they would be interested and willing to take part, explain the benefits of the research and outlining the methodology that will be used. Explain that numerous practitioners in the setting will be asked to fill out anonymous questionnaires, and three (3) to five (5) practitioners will be asked to participate in one to one interviews, which will not be anonymous. Provide the head teacher/ gatekeeper, and the practitioners involved in the interviews, with a consent letter. Gain their written consent to carry out the research and to participate.
