Topic 3 DQ2

Three major educational changes over the past 100 years that have positively influenced students.

In the past 100 years education has changed significantly, so much in fact that schools may not be what some of us remember from our own childhood. Changes have affected both the opportunities and the challenges of teaching, as well as the attitudes, knowledge, and skills needed to prepare for a teaching career.

Bus transportation widened the school districts.

During the 1930’s school buses were invented to replace the need for wagons and trucks. Now that there was a faster and more efficient transportation system, people could come to school that lived further distances away. (The Daily Chomp 2021). Students have a chance to choose which school they are going to attend to. Students are picked up and send back home with the school buses. It is very convenient for the students and can learn more from school where they don’t need to worry transportation specially during rainy season.

Technology is more advanced.

Technology has changed everything in education for the better and has changed the way students learn. Now in schools we use computers and ActiveBoards, whereas in the past information had to be looked up in a textbook or written on a chalkboard Classrooms. (The Daily Chomp 2021). Technology has improved how we learn because we have the ability to work on group assignments outside of school using internet websites like google drive, ask teachers questions

through e-mail, and much more. But it is also a bad thing when we are tempted to use the internet to look up information instead of looking through an article or textbook. (The Daily Chomp 2021). Using advance technology gives study easier and more convenient for student. It can also improve on their academic career. It gives more opportunity to become more creative and enhance their talent and learn more skills.

Schools are Larger and more people attend. A larger population and more demand for a good education in today’s world has increased the need for more schools and larger schools in urban areas. In the early 1900’s there would be up to 60 students taught in only one room. According to the article “A Short History Of United States Education 1900-2006“, 7% of children in the United States enrolled for kindergarten during the 1900’s. 8% of the ones enrolled graduated from high school. . (The Daily Chomp 2021). America realized at the turn of the century that getting an education was very important and necessary and these numbers changed drastically. Students have a bigger chance to attend school and do not worry for the number of students to be accepted in the school. They are more welcome to learn. Bigger school facilities and equipped with learning materials give more opportunity to learn better for the future.
