Roles of Metropolitan Melbourne Trauma Services
Casey Hospital
Major Trauma Services (MTS) The apex of Victoria’s trauma system, major trauma services are centres of excellence in trauma management. Provide definitive care to two thirds of Victoria’s most critical major trauma patients, either through primary triage or secondary transfer. The designated ADULT major trauma services are the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Alfred Hospital. The designated paediatric major trauma service is The Royal Children’s Hospital. Metropolitan Trauma Services (MeTS) Provide the second level adult and paediatric trauma care in Melbourne. Metropolitan Primary Care Services (PCS) Provide the third level of adult and paediatric trauma care in Melbourne.
