TYPES OF VALIDITY
1. Content(Face) Validity: does the measurement appear to measure what it is supposed to measure? Are all the topic domains covered? 2. Criterion-Related ( predictive) Validity: Does the measurement technique allow us to predict a real – world outcome that might serve as a separate index of the trait. à commonly assessed using correlation coefficients à Predictive Validity: tests how the inventory predicts or relates to future performance (e.g. scores on MCAT and success as a physician) 3. Construct Validity: The extent to which there is evidence that a test uniquely measures a specific construct and has two aspects: Ø Convergent Validity-à degree to which test scores correlate with other tests of construct.
