Topic 1 Navigating Loud Cloud Part 1: Navigating the Loud Cloud LMS and GCU Website Directions: Complete each of the 13 questions below. Please DO NOT forget to SAVE once you begin to answer the questions, so you do not lose any information.) Questions 1 -10 are directed towards the Loud Cloud LMS: 1. Click on the DASHBOARD tab in the Loud Cloud classroom. Describe the following tabs (table will expand as needed): Path Planner Student Resources Gradebook Connect Messages Preferences

Shows course outline, study materials, topics and tasks that that are due. Course calendar layout. Can be used to keep track of due dates and what you may need to add for self-use. Links to library, student success center, classroom policies, learning support and technical support. Shows grade, shows what’s upcoming and what’s turned in and graded. Links to forums, class wall, and roster. Notifications and announcements. Options to change personal preferences when on dashboard.

2. From the Course Home page in Loud Cloud, explain the steps to find MY GRADES. On GCU home page select course listed on the left side under my “My Courses” Tab> A new tab named “LCS Learning platform” opens with the view of the “Dashboard”> Select Drop down menu on the left side where it said “Dashboard”> Select “Gradebook”.

3. Under the DASHBOARD tab in LoudCloud, click on the STUDENT RESOURCES link and locate the STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER. Search for and locate THE WRITING CENTER. From there click on STYLE GUIDES AND TEMPLATES and review the APA 7th edition style guide and template. (Right click and save these to your computer for future

reference). Once you have read the style guide, why do you think academic writing requires such strict formatting? Academic writing has strict formatting for different reason depending on the school. APA format provides writers with a consistent format to be used every time when writing a paper. Also, a guideline for instructors to know what they are looking for and for the student as a guideline for what may be next. 4. Inside the Student Success Center, type “Tutorials & Webinars” in the search bar. List three tutorials or webinars that will help you most as you begin this course. For each, explain how you feel they will help.

The library walkthrough tutorial I feel will help me know how to navigate the site when I am needed to research and find information. The student success webinars I feel will help me with the supports I may need even while in UNV 303 learning how to navigate the student portals. Prep step study skills tutorials will also me with classroom success. Information on note taking, reading strategies and more.

5. From the Course Home page in Loud Cloud, click on the DASHBOARD tab and then click on CONNECT link and then FORUMS. Locate (at the top of the page) and explain the purpose of the Discussion Question Forum, Private Forum, and Questions to Instructor Forum. Discussion questions and the topic question posted by the instructor. These are all to answer read and comment weekly. Private Forum is for questions to the instructor that are only between the instructor and student. Questions to Instructor is a public forum, it is designed for your questions that you feel would benefit the entire class. Just poste the question for the instructor and all can see and comment.

6. Click on the DASHBOARD tab in the Loud Cloud classroom and select PATH. List the three headings across the top of the page and list their content. Path gives links to course materials and topics for each week that include study materials and tasks. Content outlines electronic resources and assignments. Objective describes the course objective.

7. Go to the DASHBOARD tab and click on STUDENT RESOURCES and then LIBRARY. Under About Us click on the Contact Us link. Describe two ways to get help using the Library’s resources. There are a lot of way to contact the library two are, calling the 1-800-800-9776 ext. 6396641 number or chat with a librarian. Links for all are on the contact page. 8. Use the DASHBOARD tab, click on CONNECT, and then ROSTER. Review your instructor’s profile, provide his/her contact information, including office hours.

9. There are two different locations to review the ANNOUNCEMENTS. Locate and share the steps to find the Announcements through the Dashboard tab. In addition, where else on the homepage can you go directly to the Announcements (hint: it is an icon)? The two ways to find announcements, one is on the dashboard home page. Looking on the right side of the page there is an Announcement section. Also, by clicking the Dashboard link up top on the left and drop down to messages then and selecting announcement icon with the mega phone symbol.

10. Once logged into the LoudCloud classroom, within the DASHBOARD, locate the GCU TECHNICAL SUPPORT tab. List three ways in which you can contact them, and also provide their email address and phone number (hint: look for the “need help” Tab)? Contact technical support by email, phone, chat. 11. On the Home page, click on Degree Programs, locate and click your area of interest, choose your Bachelor Program, click on Go To Program. Locate your Program Core Courses and list one course that looks most interesting to you. Why did you choose this course? Include the course name, course number and course description along with your explanation. I chose the Bachelor of Science in Psychology. One of the courses that I will be taking is PSY-358: Adult Development and Aging. This course is a theoretical and research-based course covers psychosocial, emotional, physical, and cognitive aspects of human development from emerging adulthood to death. This was interesting to me as I have witness family members age and change and there were things that I wanted to understand on the physiological side and this class will give me the knowledge that I may have been looking for. Question 12 is directed towards the GCU Website at: http://students.gcu.edu 12. On the Home Page, locate and click Student Affairs, then locate and click Spiritual Life. Describe which sections of this page interest you. Why? The faith and integration sections are what I found interesting. I like the concept of integrating faith across all aspects the school community. Growing up we are taught that in school there are somethings like the Lord we shouldn’t talk about while in school. I enjoy having the opportunity to express myself although I always have, but in a community where it is accepted and sought after.

On the Student Success Center website, search for the Writing Center and visit the page. Review the resources and services in the section for Research & Writing Help. What resource do you think will be the most helpful for you in the research and writing process? I think the grammar skills development resource will be the most helpful for me. I know that I have always had a small challenge when it comes to grammar. So, with This independent learning module it will allow me to review fundamental concepts of English grammar, including subject/verb agreement, fragment sentences, punctuation, and more. In which will help me write collage level assignments....
