Warrabura Nuru

Eucalyptus piperita The common name: Sydney Peppermint commonly found in NSW. Medicine use and ways of applications -Flesh gum: Gathered and mixed up in hot water then applied to sores, burns and cuts plus scabies ("Waraburra Nura", 2020) -Hardened gum: Soaked in warm water and when soft enough was then applied to skin lesion and it was effective for forming a film over the lesion. -Then inner bark: Boiled and then allowed to cool and strained. The liquid was then used to bath sores and ulcers. -Dry hardened gum was grounded to powder placed into sores and wounds to stop bleeding. - Leaves and twigs could be placed in a small fire in enclosed space either in a small cave and the vapour was inhaled which helped to relieve symptoms of fever and headaches. - The bark exudate was soaked in hot water until completely dissolved and the liquid was gently applied to ringworms or any other skin fungi disease, including tinea – which is really good for tennis players nowadays. -The leaves and twigs were used to eradicate evil spirits in form of smoke out of men. It through building a nice fire and gathered the leaves and the twigs and you put them on the fire. Then you made men sit there and breathe it in and on lucky occasions, you would watch the evil spirits fly out. Pharmaceutical medications that would serve similar purposes include. Medications for headaches and fevers for example Panadol, Medications for skin lesions and ulcers for example: Antibacterial medication like Clindamycin capsules Medication for fungal infections such as the azoles (clotrimazole, econazole, miconazole) ("Antifungal medicines", 2020
