Description

IRIS Module Assignment Week 2 20 points This assignment asks that you complete an IRIS module called: RTI (Part 3): Reading Instruction. In this module, you will go through five different steps (Challenge, Initial Thoughts, Perspectives and Resources, Wrap Up, and Assessment) in order to better understand different research-based strategies that may be used to improve reading skills in an intervention model. Be sure to view the videos provided, download the resources, and take notes throughout the module. The IRIS module is located at:

http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/module/rti03-reading/ At the end of the module, completely answer the assessment questions 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 (skip number 3) found in the assessment tab (Step 5) and submit the answers in a 2-3 page paper in the assignment dropbox in Week 2. Why is it important to implement high-quality instruction? 2. List the five critical components of effective reading instruction, and briefly describe how each contributes to reading success. 4. Mrs. Harrison is practicing fluency instruction with her first graders during whole-class instruction everyday. Her students’ reading ability levels range from kindergarten level to third-grade level. Choose a flexible grouping practice that Mrs. Harrison can implement to more adequately teach fluency to all of her students. Describe how Mrs. Harrison will implement this grouping practice for fluency instruction. 5. Develop a 90-minute schedule of reading instruction that includes learning centers, small-group instruction, whole-group instruction, paired instruction, independent practice, and progress monitoring. 6. Discuss at least three different ways in which high-quality reading instruction in Tier 2 will differ from that in Tier 1.
