Description

Welcome to the Business Strategy Game! My name is Christopher Gladden and I am the BSG administrator. I can be reached at [email protected]. If you have any questions about BSG, please feel free to email me. Please allow for a 24-hour response time for any email inquiries. The subject line should contain only your industry number and team letter (for example, Industry 10, Team B). This BSG folder in Blackboard contains everything you need to get started. Here are the steps: 1. Find your name on the team list. Take note of which industry you are in and which letter team you are on. 2. Type www.bsg-online.com in your browser. 3. Watch the video tutorial and read the registration procedure for your industry. 4. Register. You will need two codes: the team code and the code provided by Access Granted. If you make a mistake or register for the wrong team, email me and I will fix it. 5. Read through the Player’s Guide. 6. Make the initial contact with your teammates through their Crimson email accounts. Exchange phone numbers, alternate email addresses, etc. Agree on how you will work together. Part of your grade in BSG will be determined by your participation as determined by your teammates. Therefore, it is important that you manage your impression with your teammates 7. Go to the Decision Round Schedule tab in the corporate lobby to see the due dates. The first decision is for practice, and is due at noon on Wednesday, September 8th. By that time, each participant must be registered. Don’t give away your ultimate strategy; this practice decision is to give you time to familiarize yourself with the screens and how they work. It does not count for a grade so there is no risk. Results will be emailed to you quickly (usually within 15 minutes). Read the industry reports and print anything you might want for reference. 8. At 11:59 pm Wednesday, September 8th, all files will be deleted, and the real game will begin, starting again with a Year 11 decision due at noon on Wednesday, September 15th. The game runs for a period of 10 years, ending on Wednesday, November 17th. There are two quizzes (refer to the Decision Schedule for due dates) and a BSG comprehensive exam due on November 17th. Follow the Decision Schedule posted in Blackboard for the remainder of the semester. 9. The simulation grade is weighted as follows: 80% of the team’s final score at the end of year 20, 10% for the quizzes, and 10% for the final exam. The quizzes and final exam are to be taken by each member of the team and each member keeps his/her

grade. Team status reports and peer evaluations of individual participation, as evidenced by the activity log, can increase or decrease an individual’s grade at the discretion of the instructor. Good luck!...
