A1. Your Why Your decision to attend WGU shows your courage and determination to realize your potential. What is your “why” for attending WGU at this time?

Having a higher education has always been a goal of mine. I was lucky to get into the Radiology field right out of high school and later made the decision to attend further education for my bachelor’s degree. While obtaining my bachelor’s degree and growing in my career, I set a personal goal of achieving my master’s degree. For me, this decision is not only personal achievement but also for professional growth. I finished my bachelor’s degree in the summer while simultaneously starting a new job which took me out of the hospital setting and into the medical industry. After settling into my new role for a few months, I thought this was the best time to get back into the swing of school.

A2. Imagine your life when you have completed your program. How have you, your family, or your career been changed for the better?

The career growth that obtaining my master’s degree will provide me with will definitely change not only my career but the opportunities for my family. I am the only educated member of my immediate family, so I pride myself in making not only my family proud, but also myself. Obtaining my master’s degree will allow me the opportunity to grow within my role but also to move up the chain in the company.

B1. Your WGU Program

The WGU program I am enrolled in is an MBA in Healthcare Management. This program provides its students with the tools to be a team leader as well as understanding the fundamentals behind management. This includes courses such as economics, accounting, finance, ethics, analytics, communication, marketing and a final capstone project.

Describe your WGU program, including two specific requirements that this degree has for completion.

There is a requirement of being enrolled in at least

8 competency units per term. The MBAHM degree also has a first term requirement of completing one of the following within 45 days: completing a preassessment, completion of an objective assignment and lastly, submission of a performance task. Failure to complete one of these tasks will yield in an automatic withdrawal from the program. B2. Identify how many competency units you are required to register & enroll in for each term. Provide a brief explanation of why you will need to complete these competency units each term in order to achieve your goals.

The MBAHM program consists of a total of 36 competency units broken down over 4 terms. Each term has a requirement of being enrolled in at least 8 CU for the master’s program. Being enrolled in at least 8 CU per term considers you to be making on-time progress towards completion and graduation. Financial aid requirements also states that a student must completed 66.67 percent of all competency units attempted.

WGU provides each student with a program mentor that will with you from the first term through graduation. It is recommended to communicate with them weekly regarding goals and progress through the program.

Describe one scenario in which you will turn to your Program Mentor for support. Consider what you might be working on, what type of support you might be looking for, and how you might reach out for help.

A program mentor can help you in various situations throughout your time at WGU. Personally, the master’s program is going to bring a new challenge to me. I will be leaning on the mentor to guide me through any challenges and the best suggestions for success and completion of the program. Keeping up with my weekly meetings will help my success in the program. C1b. WGU Support Describe one scenario in which you will turn to your Course Instructor for support. C2. Your determination to succeed early is important to build momentum toward your goals at WGU. Reflect on

I plan on communicating with the course instructors if and when I need help understanding the course specific content and/or if I need help.
