Description

To: Dr. Vincent Boudreau From: Joshua Ospina Subject: NAC Accessibilities Problems Date: February 11, 2019

The purpose of this memo is to emphasize the current transportation issues that’s within the NAC building of The City College of New York and offer solutions. Summary The NAC building is in need of repairs as various methods of transportation doesn’t work and is currently affecting many students when trying to get to their classes. I would like to have a discussion as to how we can find a solution to this problem. Discussion The City College of New York includes a building that’s almost populated with students and faculty everyday and can easily be argued as the most visited building, the North Academic Center building or short for NAC. Everyday students commute to classes within the building, but at times, their commute comes with a problem. Many students have argued that having to climb up flights of stairs due to the escalators not working can be a bit of an hassle. They even mentioned that with frequent elevators not working or being slow, they would stick to the long flights of stairs. With long flights of stairs and slow elevators, this can result in students being late to class and possibly affecting their GPA average. The escalator and elevators is the most used method of transportation within the college and not being able to use it for almost everyday can be an inconvenience that not many students want to deal with. We realize that in order to have these problems fix, money is included and students have come up with ideas such as bake sales, donations and even allowing students with their major related to fixing elevators to do the job. We want to spread the word around do get more possible donations towards fixing these elevators in order to improve our commute to class. Even myself is willing to donate some money to possibly fix our transportation within the school so that they can be up to date. Seeing the struggle of students having to walk up from the first floor to the sixth floor can truly tire them out. Of course, if none of these solutions satisfy you, we can always come up with more alternative solutions. Recommendation I would like to speak to you about these recurring problems when you get the chance. Let me know if you want to talk about this either in person or through the phone by emailing me at [email protected]...
