Description

Diana Vargas Azofeifa A96487 Professor Oscar Delgado LM-1366 Introduction to Poetry 30 June 2020 Lost Embrace Too soon, my innocence left me Unplanned burden or blessing Disappear and return what you took Free me from this insane nightmare

Impulsiveness and recklessness rule my mind As I leave the fruit of my pain in the river Alone, in the cold water on a rainy night I let go of him as well as the last of my sanity Hoping a good soul, this angel will find

Living without him is a mistake I never should have left him there Showing a mask I go, trying to be brave Even when I know, I can’t hide the pain

Shame and sorrow fill my soul While I search and cry around the world In many faces, for uncounted days Every river gets me closer to him

Defeated I felt, for my life was taken But stronger I became After I embraced him My own flesh will comfort me now

I can only hope not to lose him again

The Poem Sculpture/Painting Project I accessed the Museo de Arte Costarricense virtual tour “Extraña Infancia” Questions Point 4: Observe it in detail—texture, color, ornaments, and answer these questions: What does it tell you? That the mother is not really happy, that having a baby doesn't represent happiness. That she was not planning to be a mother and that maybe she was forced into it. Does it have a voice of its own? The voice of a girl that has to grow too fast If you had to place it in a time period, what would it be? More than a time period it evokes a fantasy world that exists in my subconscious What is the artist trying to communicate to you? That motherhood requires effort and wearing a mask for the sake of the children Do you associate it with something else or someone else? How so? Because of the name of the painting, the tale of la llorona comes to mind and the colors make me think of pain and suffering Does it brind to mind the work of other artists? What is the tone of your sculpture? It is sad Does it confuse you? It is confusing because I think she wants to hide what she really feels about carrying her baby 5. At home, answer the following questions: a. If this sculpture/painting could speak through you (in a poem), what would it say?

b. When you think of this sculpture, what words come to mind? Think of powerful verbs, adjectives, colors, etc. c. Throw phrases, sentences onto the paper. Let yourself go! I didn't plan this I am not ready for the challenge I am going to put on a brave face and keep going My mask is my protection,

Don't let my kid see the real me The innocent lost girl that has no clue The world is cruel and now my baby has to face it I can only hope not to lose him again...
