Description

Once upon a time there were two women. One of the women was Proserpina. She was the goddess of harvest. The other woman being her mother, Demeter. In this world that they lived in, it was always summer. Every plant was thriving and the whole world was filled with flowers and plants. Until one day something bad happened. One day Proserpine went out. She went out to pick flowers for her friends. Everything was going fine. She was finding many different flowers and loved all the nature that was around her. Until out of nowhere there was rumbling and shaking from the ground. From the ground appears a man. This man was Pluto, Pluto grabs Proserpina and takes her down into the underworld. But Proserpina didn't want to go with him. Proserpine had no choice, he forced her to go down into the underworld with him. Pluto wanted Proserpine to stay in the underworld for eternity. The way that this could happen was if she ate or drank something from the underworld. Proserpine refused all beverages and food from Pluto, and from the underworld. Now since Proserpine has been in the underworld for so long, the regular world was dark and cold. There were no crops growing so there was a food shortage. So all the people from the regular world had become very hungry because without Proserpine there was so sunshine. The whole world was dull and gloomy. Proserpine missed her mother a great deal and couldn't wait to get home and see her again. Demeter had noticed Proserpine had been gone for quite some time. So she took action and went out to go look for her daughter. She searched everywhere for Proserpine, and she couldn't find her anywhere. Eventually she had found Proserpine and begged Pluto to give her back, but the only way was if they made a deal. The deal was Proserpine could only stay in the regular world for six months out of the year. The other six months she would have to stay in the underworld with pluto. The deal was agreed upon by everyone. So the six months that Proserpine was in the underworld it was cold and gloomy. When she wasn't in the underworld it was always sunny....
