TINIKLING First clip - THE TINIKLING(title text) Tinikling video (background) Second – me appearing - Have you ever wonder why tinikling is called tinikling? Let me tell you something. - Tinikiling originated in the island of Leyte during the Spanish occupation (in the Philippines). (leyte map appears) - (ME) It is a reference to birds locally known as tikling, which is from a rail species, specifically refers to slaty-breasted rail, buff-banded rail, and barred rail. (tiklikng appears) Third – people dancing tinikling with sound - Subtitle (the dancers imitates the movements of a tikling bird (hence, tiklinglike) as the bird walks over the grass or doges bamboo traps set by Filipino farmers on vast rice fields) Fourth – ME It is considered as national dance in the Philippines and usually performed on special occasions like festivals or at school and theater performances. This dance represents most Filipinos’ character traits: they’re resilient and fun loving. Fifth – tinikling video - The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. - Dancers imitate the tikling bird's legendary grace and speed by skillfully maneuvering between large bamboo poles - All dancers perform tinikling barefoot while the male dancers wear the country’s national outfit for Filipino me Barong and Balintawak or Patadyong dress for the females. Sixth – ME - In this generation, tinikling is not only performed in the Philippines but is now also incorporated into the curriculum of some U.S schools. ( TINIKLING CLIPS FROM OTHER COUNTRY) - (ME) Tinikling is an important dance to the Philippines in a variety of ways. Through unique props, clothing, and entertaining dance movements, it represents many of the values that are important to the Philippines such as nature and life.
