Description

1.2.9 Practice: Complete Your Assignment Practice British Literature and Composition Name:Mina Haydari Date:8/15/21

Write a narrative from the perspective of Grendel, the monster in the epic tale Beowulf. Your story must center on a conflict that reveals something important about the main character. The conflict must be resolved in some way by the end of the story.

Your assignment should include the following elements:  A central conflict that drives the story  Vivid description that makes the scenes believable  Characterization that conveys the main character's personality and feelings  A first-person point of view  A plot that follows Freytag's pyramid, including exposition, rising action, a climax, falling action, and a conclusion

You should have completed a draft of this assignment in the activity before this one. If you haven't done so, go back and complete that activity now.

Ask yourself these questions as you revise:  Does my main character deal with the conflict in a unique way that reveals his personality?

 Does my exposition give the reader enough information to understand the story and its characters?  Do my rising action and climax center on the story's main conflict? Do they both lead to the resolution of the conflict in some way?  Do my falling action and conclusion show what happens to the main character after the conflict has been resolved? Do they indicate what has changed and what has stayed the same?  Do I use enough sensory details to make the scenes vivid and realistic?  Is my point of view consistently in first person? Is the perspective of the main character consistent, accurate, and compelling?

Use this rubric to determine how well you're meeting the criteria for the assignment.

Grendel was on his way back to the castle. He'd successfully assaulted

Heorot several times before, and he'd always been able to carry fresh flesh back to his lair. He'd have his own feast with his mum once he arrived.

"They must have set up some kind of trap for me," he reasoned. He didn't mind because no one had ever been able to stop him before, no matter how hard they tried. He walked into the fortress with ease and attacked one of the men without much resistance. The following fighter, on the other hand, was not like the others. The creature was taken aback when he was attacked with his bare hands. "This isn't possible. I'm going to rip him apart "He made his decision. Grendel pursued the huge warrior into the corridors, but he was attacked by him as well. He'd never seen a human with such bravery and strength. But he was also lonely, and he stood out from the crowd. "It's too dark, and the other warriors are interfering with my ability to focus on him. I'm going to flee and return later." The warrior's arm, however, had become stuck without his knowledge. The monster attempted everything he could to free himself, but he couldn't. In the end, he had to let go of his arm and flee. The warrior's tenacity had demonstrated to Grendel that he could not be defeated. For the first time in his existence, the monster was terrified since he didn't seem to have anything to lose.
